Corrina Bay City Journal
A development project by Los Pantalones

Welcome to the new Corrina Bay city journal.
The Corrina Bay area has recently experienced an influx of tourism, commercial interest, and residential draw as a new highway blasted through the high passes of the Cumberland Range has been completed. Although the highway itself doesn't reach into the Cumberland Valley or Corrina Bay area
itself, satellite roads have provided access for the beautiful region of lush valleys, high mountain peaks, deserted rocky shorlines and the wide Cumberland River. As development progresses, it will be documented here.
Initial development is detailed below.

physicalmap.jpg

The physical map above highlights the entire region. The Corrina Bay is the large body of water to the north. Sitting in the bay is undeveloped Eternity Island. Lack of viable transportation options and a rocky interior have left many parts of the island unexplored. Beautiful untouched beaches surrounded by tall, lush cliffs can be found in several parts of the island protected from the open sea. The coastline along the mainland is wild and rocky. Several bays and inlets have been formed from the constant abuse of the sea. The wide cumberland river meanders between the Cumberland Range and the Corrina Range, eventually emptying out into Lake Cassidy.

RegionMap.jpg

The region map shows the parts of the valley which have been developed. Much of the region remains farmland or undeveloped wilderness. Locals, fishermen, and naturalists fear this will quickly change as transportation improves. The developed part of the large region is called The Corrina Foothills, and banks up against the lower elevations of the Corrina Range.

transportationmap.jpg

The transportation map highlights the recently built interstate 417, and the existing state highways which bisect the area. Siding Heights is the most urbanized town in the region, and Sunrise is a booming posh-residential area complete with a wintertime ski resort. Staggers is a small mountain town home to a small liberal arts college. Liberty is a tiny farming center at the crossroads of two state highways. Terrapin hills is built into the elevations, with a commitment to staying a small community.

detailedtrans.jpg

The detailed transportation map shows the Corrina Foothills region up-close, as well as highlighting the major state highways that connect the developing communities.

Look for more updates to Corrina Bay in coming days, including close-up photos of each developing town, as well as the city expansion plan for the Corrina Bay region, as traffic increases.

We hope you enjoy this new city journal... please leave feedback, and continue to check back as updates are frequently posted.

LosPantalones, mayor and chief developer of the Corrina Bay region.

Hey,
I like your region very much! It is so detailed, has so many different aspects - great! Did you download this region or made it yourself?

The first developement is looking nice, too. But I can't judge it better until you show us some closer looks of your cities.

Keep going!

Barnatom-- Love your region (Cadott Bay) myself. This region is based off the map for Salt Lake City, Utah, but I spent several hours changing EVERYTHING. Glad to hear you like it.
I mentioned close-ups of the individual towns and a regional development plan are on the way soon... gotta read, man!
    Thanks for the comment.

    Neighborhood Overview

    Area of Overview: Siding Heights
    sidingheights.jpg
    1.0

    sidingoverview.jpg
    1.1

Siding Heights is the most urban of the early developments in the Corrina Bay region. As the city spreads towards the bay and river, Siding Heights will eventually become an outlying suburb.

    sidingdowntown.jpg
    1.2

The town has its own commercial district, apartment complexes, and a large regional high school, all surrounded by suburban residential developments. As tourism has increased throughout the region, Siding Heights has become a largely upper-middle class community.

    sidingsuburb.jpg
    1.3

A closer look at the suburbian residential development surrounding the town. Main thoroughfares feature strip malls, movie theaters, and large department stores. Notice the amphitheatre in the shot, it was built before this neighborhood existed.

    sidinghightech.jpg
    1.4

High-tech industry moved into this relatively clean town quickly after transportation with the outside world became a reality. Notice how high-class mansions have been constructed between the industry, soon-to-be-busy expressway, and the commercial district. This is an example of the importance of commute time to some.

Hope you enjoyed the update, more to come soon!

Apocalyptica_Chello: Thanks for the compliment, it's a river going through the land mass, from lake to sea.

dfnva: Thanks for checking it out. I will post a development plan soon, with ideas for the highway network, as well as planned density development for the region. Great CJ!

mudspreader: Hope you enjoy the first look!

Sunrise is a posh-residential community overshadowed by the area's largest volcano. The Corrina Volcano erupted hundreds of years ago, blowing its side into a cloud of ash and earth. This eruption provided the fertile soil for the entire Cumberland River Valley. Today a Ranger Station sits at the base of the volcano, and the entire volcano and surrounding wilderness has been protected as the Midway Wilderness Area. Following photos feature the different neighborhoods of this small mountain community. Enjoy!

    Corrina Bay City Journal
    Urban Development Plans

This update will focus on the future of the Corrina Bay area. With increased traffic, tourism, and development, the question at hand is: Where do we go from here?. The Corrina Bay Development Group (CBDG) has put together a preliminary sketch of the future hopes for the Cumberland River valley and areas beyond...

    densities.jpg
    3.0

The map above shows the areas of Corrina Bay which have already been developed as well as current plans for expansion throughout the area. Areas are color-coded based on the anticipated population density of the area. Yellow will be rural farms and small rural towns. Light green will be suburban development and satellite towns, including the occasional industrial park. Darker colors correspond to more urban development, and central commercial districts of large cities. As you can see, the Corrina Bay region plans to grow.

Naturally, a growing area has to plan its transportation system before construction begins to provide an adequate and easy-to-use system once everything is in place. The CBDG is reasearching options for a comprehensive highway system and has solicited the help of 4 highway architecture firms to plan the infrastructure.

We ask for your help in deciding which architect's plan would suit the city best! Please respond with the names of the architects whose highway plan looks best to you!
    Thanks for your input!

    highwayplan1.jpg
    3.1 Hugeback & Litelhead architects

    highwayplan2.jpg
    3.2 Angel & Diablo architects

    highwayplan3.jpg
    3.3 George & Lucas architects

    highwayplan4.jpg
    3.4 Gary & Coleman architects

Again, please help the Corrina Bay Development Group (CBDG) select a winning design by voting for your favorite highway layout for the region! Simply respond with the architects' names.

Your regional map looks terrific and very playable. It looks like you have many hours of work (eh... play) ahead of you. Looking fomrward to seeing how this develops. I particularly like the urban development in the mountains, great touch. I love to get development in high rolling hills. The cities always turn out so much more interesting even though they can be more difficult.

As for your alternative transportation networks, I would go for Gary and Coleman'sdesign. I like the four parallel highways running through the big valley, particularly the two that are on opposite sides of the shore. The Interchanges at your dense city along the river could be quite dynamic. The only thing I wonder about is wether you shouldn't have a spur running into your aggicultural zone in the lower right. Your rural communities could use the network to get into those higher paying jobs in the big city.

Shadow_Assassin: Thanks for your input, please check back as development continues.

sim-ple: Thanks for your great comments! I'm leaning towards Gary & Coleman's design as well, but would appreciate more votes from everyone! I hope, as the region continues to develop, to ask for the input of everyone viewing this CJ for different ideas which I will present.

jacqulina: Thanks for the compliment, I've put a lot of time into the pics I've put up, glad you've noticed!

Awesome work here with Corrina Bay. Sunrise is a really beautiful city. I would try to incorporate more bats into your city though, for a more realistic feel. As far as the transit goes, I would go with Angel and Diablo because you're running highways through dominantly low density areas, so the amount of traffic will not be as much on the higways. So that's my vote! 29.gif

Continue to do well with this, it is very interesting to follow. 44.gif

    The citizens are voting!

So far the vote tally is as follows:
    hugeback & litelhed: 0
    angel & diablo: 1
    george & lucas: 3
    gary & coleman: 3

    Keep the votes coming!

    Nice job!

I like the Gary & Coleman design mostly for that extension on the right side that all the other plans omit, but I do like the four parrallel highway design of it as well. That's a good way to keep lots of traffic moving.
