I haven't posted in a while so here's what I have been up to. I'm working on a large atmosphere processing plant / terraform facility. From what I have read in the forums there seems to be some debate on whether to have these but I guess if the team decides no I can turn it into a power plant or industrial facility. Obviously I still have a long way to go but you can see that basic shape and layout. I am planning on adding some large inflow ducts to the right of the right tower. I am looking around for some good industrial textures for this thing. Let me know if you have some.

I am still trying to get the residential tower rendered. I went a little overboard on the polys so I am trying to clean it up and bring the count down enough to be able to render.
 
EDIT: Added some textures and some details. Still a long way to go but I am liking the way it is turning out so far 19.gif Comments and suggestions are welcomed

I've added some details. The textures were kinda distracting so I'm working in grayscale for now (I can't stand the cartoony colors that gmax uses when you create shapes). But now that I see the model with lighter colors I am starting to wonder if I sould keep the dark industrial look or go to something lighter? Any thoughts? /idealbb/files/terra4.JPG

I believe someone DID make a spaceport... but then again, this is the future! Vehicles can easily reach outer space, so i would assume that there will be many variations of spaceports! The more variety of any building the better, because not all space ports would be made by one company, right?

i've finally done cyrez, the building itself is done but i am going to make some props to go on the boring blank lot, the props i will be making are:
* the large transporter truck from I,robot
* one of boris's aerial designs ( i will make all 3 though!)
once i've done the props i'll make them available to all simmars building team members

Looking good octo!  Though, no offense, but...  Is this a commercial bldg?  Or a civic?  'Cause if it is commercial, then I think the recommended overall look of the bldg should be sleek & glassy, or mars-like.  But if it is a civic, well, this would be very much acceptable. V^_^  Anyway, keep up the good work!  Can't wait to see more!!

Meowza: I believe it is going to be an idustrial HT (I think it would work really nice as manufactoring as well). Either way its a pretty nice building

thanks for the comments, cyrez is definetly a I-HT industrial structure, i've built the truck from I,robot, entirely from memory as i couldn't find any pics of it, i made it a bit shorter in case the transport team want to play around with it.

Oct, I like the trucks. There really good for being totally from memory. Have you considered adding some robots lined up in formation like in the movie? Might be a nice touch 1.gif A big fence would probably work too to keep overly curious Sims out.

outdoorsman, i'd love to do a fence around the place, i have a prop pack of a concrete millitary fence, and i also have some very high fences from somy's microwave power plant, if i were to make my own i'd need to know how to use alpha textures as i have some for chain link fences, but don't know how to use the 2 texture maps, might have to experiment, oh i also have a prop of a starwars scout trooper AT-ST as well, which i'm going to do something with.

Just a small update.....
I have been really busy lately so I was working on one of my smaller projects. Here's a preview.

I still have some roof details to add but I should be finishing it up pretty quick. I am planning on making a few more different variations of the same design to add some variety. \
 
Edit: I love small projects that can be finished quickly 19.gif. I am planning on making a two story very of this and then I am going to start working on a green version of the little house. Once things calm down a little I will start working on the terraform facility again.

OMG!!! I don't understand how you do that!! I think your BATs are great ODM. I think the two story house should be a connection of those buildings modified a little, so that it looks like a small apartment complex, but lying flat, not going up. Unfortunately, I cannot do this myself, as I all I can create in BAT is a two story box with a roof.

Now that I look at the picture I noticed one of the front door lights isn't showing up but I'll fix that and export it again.

For my next project I am consdering a solar chimney. Here's a shot of one I found on the net.

Basically the way it works is hot air is trapped between the huge solar collecting plate and the gound surface and the funneled up the column in the center. As the air passed up it turnes some turbines which produces electricity. I am going to beef up the design to withstand the harsh martain environment. I am going to add some large protective shields to the solar collector plate that can be closed in the instance of a meteor shower or large sandstorm, etc.

here is my latest creation, it's a lot that goes down into the ground (50 metres to be exact), it is an express lift straight down to the mines, anywhere from 100 metres to 1 kilometre, it features an R&R area for the crews atop the lift shaft, it just needs some textures and some fiddly stuff and it will be done

-WHOA!! atlast, SM is all comming together! that looks *awesome* ODM!  and octo, thats lookin good too, it somewhat reminds me of those huge radio satellite dishes i see on discovery.  Cant wait for the transportation team to take their first huge move, same with all the other teams!  Keep up the good work guys!

an update on my mine elevator facillity, after a 4 hour render it looked weird in game, the sc4 engine can't handle circular edges in subterranean lots!, so i have to set the whole thing in square, which shouldn't be to hard to do, so any batters wanting to make lots that go underground remember, the parts that go underground must have right angled corners!, this is a simple to solve problem so i should have it done soon, heres a pre render view
