Canofordia

Hello, and welcome to my first CJ. And should I say, my smallest city, measuring at a whimsical 6x18. This is a repersentation at Southern California, mainly the Los Angeles and San Francisco area. Due to limitations, everything wanted is not availble, but we'll just have to use what we have.

First one is the genetic region map
<ahttp://img498.imageshack.us/img498/7985/canofordia11376143497jh.png align=baseline>
It's custom to include a transport map(Shown in lovely UK Atlas colours)
<ahttp://img498.imageshack.us/img498/9352/canofordia11376143780sr.png align=baseline>

First up, the city of Compute.

26) Compute
Compute, as you can see is the most southernly area of the region. On the left is Short Beach, and on the right is the planned Ondlewood. Seen in such Ivywood films as 'Girlz Wearing Hoods' and 'Dennis in Society', Compute is a run-down area with troublesome gang violence between the Sweats and the Cramps. 23,000 people call this place home, all of them poor. All everyone dreams is the day they can say goodbye and good ridence to the hood.

Dirty Industry and freeways. Symbols of Compute.
<ahttp://img71.imageshack.us/img71/6827/compute11tj.png align=baseline>

The Compute intersection, where the R-1(elevated) crosses the R-25(ground)

<ahttp://img71.imageshack.us/img71/8103/compute21nq.png align=baseline>

Westwards, the R-25 splits off to the R-20 as it enters Ondlewood
<ahttp://img353.imageshack.us/img353/881/compute35vw.png align=baseline>

Fancy a trip to Compute? Don't forget your gasmask.
<ahttp://img353.imageshack.us/img353/9127/compute47jw.png align=baseline>

Well that's all I've got for Compute.
On the next update will be middle-class Ondelwood
Until then, keep on CJ-ing

P.S. You may notice Compute is city 26. Well this refers to it's place on the region map eg San Tan is 4, Ivywood is 13, and the Canofordia Fault is 10-12. The numbers read from North to south, but I'm starting in Compute to get the population up for skyscrapers.Sorry, but that's how the game works

    Very square and tidy. If you post your pictures as JPEGs instead of PNGs, they will load much faster for everyone. 2.gif

    I have learned that the best way to mitigate disasters such as yours is to write the CJ in Word first. With a Word document as the primary storage not only can you keep track of the flow of the CJ but also keep track of the links to photos. I have a small tutorial on the matter on page 4 or 5 of my own CJ. I hope this tidbit helps with future events.

    I am happy. Are you?

    Well I'll comment cause that has happened to me plenty of times in Bostalk...thank goodness no one really noticed...

    Not that I feel pity for you its that I live around L.A. and I like how these names are very close to the Real Life names.Too bad you won't dive into the Orange County area,but I'm liking what I see so far...

    Very good start and use Jpegs....44.gif

    <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Southern Canofordia

    Well the bottom 3 cities are complete

    <ahttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8508/canofordia12gk.jpg align=baseline>

    And the transport. Should I get rid of these colours?

    <ahttp://img33.imageshack.us/img33/575/canofordia22bm.jpg align=baseline>

    27) Ondlewood

    Ondlewood is a suburb of Los Angulo. It houses 31,000, of which 70% live below the poverty line, and 15% are Wofsies*. Ondlewood consists of 75% Residential, 15% Industry, and 10% Commercial. At current a new education program is trying to get smarter kids, so hopefully Ondelwood can progress in the future. Sadly, only this area seems to be affected.

    <ahttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/4377/ondlewood18ti.png align=baseline>

    The Eastside clearly seems to be the nicer area, which is obvious as it

    Nice setup!

    I like how the houses work with the terrain then go agaisnt them,as in the slope isn't disturbed.Also the highway layout is really good.The park with the tower is interesting,but I think out here in L.A. you'd want something more abstract as L.A isn't to classical....

    Again great job!

    Canofordia update 2.5

    9-11) Geteai

    In between the cities of Los Angulo and San Tanmicro, is the Geteai Fault. The geteai fault is caused by the Pacifist and North Eaglian plates rubbing against each other in a transform fault. Technally, the plates move in the same direction, but the Pacifist moves at 8cm/year compared to the North Eaglian's 2cm/year. The geteai fault has caused many earthquakes, including San Tanmicro 1906, Kuji Loma 1989, and Northcliff 1994.
    In this region pic, you can see a 4km stretch.
    Earthquake?http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/8767/canofordiar8zm.jpg align=baseline>

    The fault starts at the Pacifist Ocean
    <ahttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5533/fault18mz.jpg align=baseline>

    And is surrounded by mountains when it leaves the CJ
    <ahttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/1843/fault24kf.jpg align=baseline>

    That's all I can fit in, but the Geteai fault actully twists 90 degrees and up the San tanmicro Penisular, which causes the bay. Further north, it collides with the John te Suca plate, forming Mount St Emma's and the Siscade Range of Volcanoes strecthing to Lincon State.

    And that's the Fault. Next time, we return to the grungy Ghettos.

    Time makes fools of use all.

    Well that's Joules. Next on my list is City 22-Currance. It's worth pointing out that the further we move away from Compute, the higher the standard of living. I'll finish on a few notes.

    1) Joules are the unit of Energy, whilst Watts are the unit for power. 1 Watt=1 Joule/second

    2) The pics may look similar, but Joules was a small city, compared to Compute and Ondlewood, which were medium

    Good start. It looks like you do what I do and terriform each tile on its own. If I were you, I'd have a bit more variety as far as transportation is concerned, i.e. not so griddy, maybe use streets instead of roads in residential areas. I usually use roads only for major arteries through neighborhoods. I like the frontage road setup you have along the freeways, in fact using the NAM's ramps, you could sometimes exit the freeway off onto those frontage roads. Looking good, lots of potential.

    Problem

    Currently, I have the next city, Currance, built and in process of being made Simtropolis friendly, but if I were to post it, I'd have 6 updates on one page. So until we reach page 2, I'll keep Currance safe, and work on East Los Angulo.

    PS. I'm not just trying to get my post count up, I'm thinking back to how long it took me to load up New York (by ejc) on 56k dial-up

    Like I said in my CJ id come visit yours... Well, here I am and I can say yes, Im liking this CJ.

    From what I can remember of LA, and like most cities it is dirty, and full of problems.  You re-created the highways pretty well and I can't wait to see what you do next.  You have a place in the San Portello naming list, and, don't worry about putting six updates on one page, becuase it is indeed slow at the start with respect to low comments & views, and it'll be like 1 update every 2 pages later... Keep faith, I nearly lost mine back in pages 1-5 of SP, but thanks to people like you I still update the CJ now & then.

    Catch you later,

    East Los Angulo

    I know I promised Friday, but hey, games are always delayed.
    <ahttp://img100.imageshack.us/img100/8726/canofordiar0oi.jpg align=baseline>
    Note Los Angulo International.
    <ahttp://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2985/canofordiat2ns.jpg align=baseline>
    Nice lump of blue of the left now

    The title says East Los Angulo, but this covers all of Currance and Heimain
    Covering 4.8km2, and 40,000 residents, we begin
    As you leave Joules, and head into Currance, Apartment blocks come common.

    <ahttp://img455.imageshack.us/img455/9831/eastlosangulo19zm.jpg align=baseline>

    Head north, and they just get bigger
    <ahttp://img151.imageshack.us/img151/9061/eastlosangulo28gr.jpg align=baseline>
    On one side of the R25 is low-wealth, and the other is the poor. That's los Angulo for you
    As these areas are just small cities, I won't spend any extra time, however, I'll show you LAX before I leave. I used highway noise barriers for a security fence.
    <ahttp://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2979/lax19mar0611392533154pq.jpg align=baseline>

    And with this ends the pooper areas of Los Angulo. I need to buil up my population for the skyscrapers, so next time we'll be up north into a National Park, till then, Cia Nara.

    Very interesting work.  A little too grid like for me.  But this is your CJ not mine.  If I could make one sugestion though, I think you should make the airport a little flater.  Other than that I can't wait for the next update.
