Issue with SC4 Plugin Manager

Hi Guys, set up a new system and am struggling with SC4 Plugin manager.

I pretty much have the same issue as described here.
 

Quote

- While the "Models" list is OK, the "Descriptors" tree is empty.
- Pressing F5 (Refresh) returns the following error: Error loading Properties XML file
- In the File->Settings dialog, all entries in both the "General" and "Files" tabs are empty.

However I did not entirely understand how they solved it in the end, nor did I have access to any of the files they exchanged. 

Anyone of you pros able to help me out with this one?

Have you tried using PIM-X?

Pim X won‘t run for other reasons (probably dll related) but in any case I always prefered SC4 Plugin Manager for its simplicity…

The error means it can’t read a properties file from the install data of the game.

Is your copy of SC4 installed using the proper installer?, necessary for the registry entries to exist so PIM knows where to find the data it’s looking for.

Otherwise perhaps PIM doesn’t have permission to read the files, usually solved by running the program with Admin rights (right click shortcut and select Run as Admin).

Thanks for the ideas. I tried running it as admin, which did not solve the issue unfortunately. I also wasn't able to find any file named properties.xml anywhere in the SC4 folder.

You did install PIM too? This properties file has all the datatypes needed for PIM to function. Even Reader/PIM-X use a modified version of this file.
