Credit card required for cheat download? [Solved]

Hello there,

 

Is there a way to download the extra cheat dll without giving my credit card information? I tried to download the file, and it routed me to an account opening that required my CC.

That sounds very much like your browser sticking ads in where they do not belong. You never need to give any credit card info to get any mods from Simtropolis (nor SC4E either).

Look very carefully at what you are being asked to click. That sounds very suspicious.

I believe you were 100% correct. I went to download the extra cheat plugin file again, and that screen popped up, I clicked off if it, and my phone asked if I wanted the extra cheat plugin. I said yes, and it downloaded with no problems! I then connected a thumb drive to my phone and transferred the file to it. Next step is putting it on my computer when it comes out of the shop. Again thanks a bunch for you wisdom!

There is one exception and that is if you wish to make a donation to Simtropolis (and to receive the STEX discs). That then does require you to pay somehow, but it's not a requirement for anyone to donate. And if you are looking for ease of use, the STEX discs are not the way to go. They were handy long, long ago when dial up was common and to otherwise get that much content would take a week and a half of constant downloading.  

The donating is always to help Dirktator pay the site's bills which keep us online. (That's always appreciated.)

If I donate though, I'll need to get the STEX Discs most likely. The computer I'm having "built" is going to run windows 7, and will not have current security programs installed. The computer will be " internet capable", but not really suggested, which is fine because I live in the boonies and don't have high speed internet available. I know, I live in the dark ages lol!  I haven't had a PC for almost twenty years, and decided to get one just so I could play SC4D, Comand and Conquer Generals, and a couple other 2000's era games. The games of my youth are calling back to me lol! I'm hoping to get the computer in the next day or so, and am excited to get going building a city.

 

Another question:

My computer as mentioned will run windows 7. It will have 8 gigabytes of ram, not sure if it's going to be 32 bit or 64. To your's or anyone else's knowledge, will the the extra cheat DLL plug in work with that configuration?

The extra cheat one most certainly does work as I had Win 7 for eons. (I always go kicking and screaming into the future so I've held onto old OS's long after they were no longer supported. I only have Win 10 now cause of some RL complications a couple or three years ago.)

Even the newest DLLs have a caveat listed that they will prolly work if installing a particular MS C++ Redistributable and I know that's worked for CB (@Cyclone Boom) for the few he has tested.

Sure, that's fine if you wish to make the donation.

That's the part to do just cause you love ST and want to help it stay alive, but I do want to be clear that the STEX Discs are more of a nostalgia thing rather than practical. See, most modded BATs and LOTs and such are still going to need Dependencies for their textures and props and those won't be included on said STEX Discs. Ofc, you can download those separately and then be pretty much set for most things on the discs. I just want you to be absolutely certain you know it's the donation that needs to be where your heart is and that the discs (which are sent via a download linky) are just a token of Dirk's gratitude.  

It's kind of like: I paid to help ST and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.
