Problem with Rendering in Region View

Hello all,

Please take a look at my screenshot. As you can see, the three cities I have loaded in from this new region are not being saved all the way, with the lower third of each tile missing. When I actually go into each city, everything is fine. It is only an issue in the region view. I am suspicious it has to do with a funky resolution as I am running the game at 2880x1620x32. I am achieving this with dxwrapper. Any ideas as to fixing this issue or any workarounds?

It is pretty annoying more than anything else...

It's due to resolutions now-a-days being so much greater than Maxis anticipated. 1,200 and up for vertical and you get that blue band along the bottom of your city thumbnail.

So, the trick is to reduce your resolution to less than 1,200 vertical pixels, load the city tiles (one by one) and re-save them. From then on when you play at your normal, greater resolution you want to do a Quick Save (which, iirc, is Ctrl + Alt + s) and that skips the city thumbnail which you see in the region view. Ofc, the drawback is that your region view doesn't get updated when you do said quick save.

Additionally, in case you aren't familiar with it, be sure to do the Saving and the Exiting (or Quitting) as separate operations. If doing the Save and Exit (or the Save and Quit) you run the risk of the save itself getting borked. There's a Save Warning mod for that if you want it.

Thanks for all the information. That is a good idea.

I had never heard of "quick save." That is going to be a very useful feature for my situation. Thanks for your help.

Re-reading and it reminded me to mention that if you are doing your initial region view updating to clear out the Mapper / Terraformer colors, you can Save and Exit without worry. That two step process I mentioned is for built up cities when it becomes a greater and greater risk.

If I may, my issue seems semi related but my problem is I can't even open some of my cities to resave them, I can't choose them in the Region screen no matter what resolution I go down to.

Yep, you certainly may. *:ohyes:  (That's what we're here for.)

Can we presume you've tried the DLL in the post above yours? That'll help the techy peeps know a wee bit more about what is going on. For instance is there any difference in the problem with or without said DLL installed?

Indeed I did plop the dll in, to no discernable effect. Thought maybe it was tied to my widescreen monitor and/or display settings but I can go positively 1989 VGA CRT mode on my laptop alone and it's still bung-fu. If I could open a city file directly and resave that'd be lovely. Just a bummer, I've been building this region for years.

I presume you've tried double clicking a city tile to get in? (You don't actually need the popup to access them.)

Video card problem. What GPU are you using for SC4? What rendering mode are you using for SC4?

I'd love to double click a city to launch it. problem is all that blue nonsense covers over te city names and they are unselectable.

I got a RTX A1000, but I'm rendering in sw node, if I pick hw it crashes the app at startup.

I don't have much hope for it, but double clicking only needs to be somewhere within the city tile's boundaries.
