I've been using this mod in my CJ, and it works nicely. I think that first photoshopped picture acurately represents the over-use of 'street-furniture' here in the UK. Perhaps someone could make an 'excessive road signs' mod that places far more road signs than are neccessary at all major junctions! 2.gif

As an idea, www.cbrd.co.uk has all the fonts used on the brittish road network which can be downloaded. Transport is used on normal roadsigns, Motorway is self explanitary and pavement is used for tarmac text. Take a look! they will be on the fonts page.

PS jono, your link doesn't work in the address bx!

GLENNI: wow, you from norway too? Cool, well yeah, norwegian road textures would be cool, and I would like to make some maby, but how? hehe, though it would be easier if those brits would help out, but they have to make their own I guess 45.gif.

EDIT: is there a tutorial for making road textures?

To everyone involved in this mod,

I think Morifari is right about combining it with the European mod as it would just be a matter of making this mod left hand compatible and adjusting a few things. Ever hear the phrase Kill two birds with one stone? This is just my suggestion and I feel it would save yourselves a LOT of work and I think it is stupid making a total new road texture when it is already made in the Euro mod!

I think on the UK modding Subject, a smart mod too make would be one like the one that makes everything on one tileset. W could do this as a mod making all of the Maxis stuff on the New York Tileset and All UK style stuff as Euro Tileset, then we basicaly have a UK tileset just under a differant name

It's already been done. Tilesetmod  shuffles all the maxis buildings into the Chicago tileset.  If you got rid of anything that grows in the euro tileset that is unsuitable for the UK, the euro tileset would then grow only UK buildings.  I think most of the UK content on the STEX is either modded to grow only in the euro tileset or grows in all tilesets.

A small word of warning, though.  If you actually implement this you'll probably find that there is a real lack of buildings left to grow - in particular, there are very few UK shops beyond gascooker's and no high street shops at all.

It may seem that there's quite a few UK BATters, but in reality the amount of content we've created is pretty small (and the subset that is up to current BATting standards is even smaller) and as there has been no co-ordinated effort to create a fully working tileset it is all a bit hit-and-miss as to what is available and what isn't.

I have a suggestion: when you see warnings for drivers painted on roads, they're sort of stretched vertically, so that they appear normal from the viewpoint of the driver. Apart from that, it's a sound idea.
