CAM Farm Fields - missing textures

Hello,

after years I am finally returning to SimCity 4 including CAM. Installation and all the plugins worked quite well, but I seem to be having an issue with some CAM Farms. They sometimes have a black background (see picture) or look quite barren. I am guessing I am missing a texture or similiar. Can anyone explain me how to check what is missing?

Some examples of text when I click on the farms/fields:

IR6 Fountain Park swi21 (seems to be missing the building/fountain...)
BLS Farm Fields Forests 1 (or 2 or 3)
BLS GA Farm Field - Pasture

I probably have most dependencies still on my hard-drive, but do not know where to look.
Any help would be welcome.

Tanks,

Deemer

The fountain actually is not missing, it's on your image. That small item in the middle. You are indeed missing the base texture(s) which is coming from the BSC Textures vol02. Also make sure you have the BSC MEGA Props CP vol01 and Vol02, because these lots have the seasonal/semi-seasonal trees from CycleDogg.

This has the textures from the BSC Textures vol01. But fro the tree props they are using again the CP trees.

This is an empty grass lot. I don't think there is any issue with it, because it doesn't supposed to have anything on it.

One important thing. In the past years, since we started a project called Project ZIP to get the rid of the exe installer based uploads, many of the previously available prop packs got cleaned up and updated, sometimes it was necessary to fix hidden and mostly less/unknown bugs. Since the shut down of the LEX we collected the most common BSC related dependencies into the SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies Pack, which is a huge 1.6 GB compilatation of dependencies. Currently it's running on Version 8, where most of the former BSC dependency packs got updated.

So to get the above mentioned dependencies you need to download and install the new compilation or at least those mentioned dependencies from the new compilation:

SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies

If you just want to add these mentioned dependencies, then I would not recommend you to run the cleanitol built into the installer, but if you want to replace the old and now mostly obsolete versions of the dependencies, then I would recommend you to back-up your plugins folder then USE one of the 3rd party cleanitols:

- nos.17 Cleanitol (new tool released a month ago)

- BSC Cleanitol (old but stable tool)

Run the Cleanitol_MASTER REMOVE LIST_BSC Common Dependencies Pack Version 8.txt file (you can find this in the ~Documents folder) with one of the above linked tool and move the found outdated files out of your plugins. Then run the installer and install any of the prop packs (since you are about the replace your old prop packs with the new ones in an existing plugins folder it is better if you do a full install, except if you are sure that you don't need certain prop packs). DO NOT use the inbuilt cleanitol of the installer this time.

    Hi Tyberius,

    thanks for your quick reply.

I had actually used the new BSC Common Dependencies Pack and ran the Cleanitol. So following your advice I did the same again: first run the Master Remove List (no obsolete items found) and then installed the 1.6GB again. Somehow it did not help the issue with the farms (but apparently and issue I had with the Pantsdowne Peroxide Plant that did not show before either). The farms still look the same.

In my plugins folder (in the subfolder "BSC") I can see the following files:
    BSC Textures Vol01.dat (under "BSCTextures")
    BSC Textures Vol02.dat (under "BSCTextures")
BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01.dat (under "BSCProps")
BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol02.dat (under "BSCProps")

There also seems to be no duplication as I cannot find another file (in my plugins folder) with the same name.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Deemer

So for the farms with trees, these are semi-seasonal tress so they to show up you need to run the simulation for a whlie, until the gameplay gets to the first date when these trees will show up. That's not an issue. The problem is, that if you have the BSC Textrues vol01 in place, the base texture should show up. I ran a quick test the other day and for me the textures did show up properly. Can you send some of the affected lots either here or via DM, so I can check, what is going on with them?

Yes, at first I also thought this was the seasonal trees, so I planted some of the parks that have seasonal trees in the city. They show up just fine after a couple of months.

I am not sure which files you would need. The two places where the barren area pops up are the "Fountain Park Farm" and the "Maze Park". I attached the *.sc4lot

The problem with some of them turning partially black (see picture 2 above), seems to appear and disappear randomly. It could be the same lots, I will watch them.

    Thanks for helping!

I checked the lots. I added the dependencies, it shows up for me properly. What I can imagine that at one point maybe the city was entered and saved while the dependencies were not in the Plugins and these lots got affected. Demolish the lots ingame and try to regrow them or use the buildingplop cheat if it's necessary.

This is how the lots look like when I tested them. Sadly I don't have better idea. Probably those lot files got corrupted in your ingame, because they look perfectly fine otherwise.
