SimCity still a thing?

I'm sorry, does anyone else in the world still play SimCity 4?

I apologize for being a pain in the arse, but I am seriously not smart. I love this game and I really like passing the time playing and imagining...but I'm totally bored with the same old regions that come with the game. I have spent countless hours locating new regions and downloading all kinds of configs and bitmaps, but I cant load a damn thing. Sorry for my words, Im just frustrated. I feel like an idiot that I cant find the SC4 Mapper and others tools like I did before. Then I can't seem to download them. 

If anyone is still here and in the mood to help a guy, I'd really appreciate learning how to download and install some new regions.

I still play the game !! I mean, I started playing this game when I was a young kid... Now, even dealing with real life (proud father as well) I love to play this game daily... I find new things everyday and new ways to play the game. I am focused on Japanese cities for example, but the amount of things you can do is infinite and has no limits. 

Regarding your questions and doubts, please feel free to share them over here, I am more than willing to help you. I can show you how to download and create maps, provide you with download links, etc...

I hope that you can continue to enjoy this game as much as I do.

Greetings from Indiana in the U.S.A. (I hope that doesnt anger anyone). I loved the original SimCity game and every new version I saw over the years as a yound dad my self in the early 2000's. I havent played for the longest time until recently. I truely enjoy this game and find new and interesting perspectives again and again.

I'll get to the point of it. Sorry.

There are so many instructions on Youtube and Simtropolis how to do what I want to do but Im really dumb with this stuff. 

I have a laptop with windows 11 and all drivers are up to date. I bought SimCity 4 Deluxe and properly installed the game. All features work splendid. I've found interesting new maps I want to play in this game. But links to the tools go to websites it doesnt appear that work any longer. I watched videos on Youtube about creating folders and .bitmaps and configs. But when I open a new blank region and I use keys ctrl + shift + alt + R a small window appears. I navagate to the folder of the new map and choose a .bmp file and click yes then nothing. I wait but still have a blank, empty region.

Okay, no worries, I will share with you a few instructions and some useful information.

 

If you want to create maps, SC4Mapper is your tool -> https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2880

(You need to login into the LEX)

Now, look into the maps section here and just download a map:

You can check these tutorials but the tool is quite simple, you won't have any problems:

As you can see, when you download a map, you will get a Zip file, inside you should be able to find another file, just use this file to create the map using SC4mapper.

When everything is ready, save and then you will find your new map ready to be played in the game.

yes, there seems to be quite a few players still and new mods being made. i'm in the process of overhauling my mod collection and reloading dependency files. taking me way too long the last couple months. we all learn as we go along. i wasn't sure if you meant you were having trouble just with maps or with adding mods as well.

best advice i can offer is to go slow and be willing to try new things. backup files and map regions, triple back up even.

one alternative is you can create your own regions just using the tools already provided in the Sc4 package  you can either choose a preloaded region or create your own
