I just installed some new lots and experienced an issue with these:

Fully funded they show a capacity of just 330 tickets, which leads to "museum underfunded" alarm in the game:

This lot from the creator works better (3300 capacity):

Just in case if the issue cant't be replicated: I'm using the 32bit Mac Version of the game, don't know if it could be a rep bug like in transit stations.

Does anybody know which entries in the the reader should be changed to get higher capacities?

Thx

I don't see anything odd with either download, although both lots have a capacity (in the file) of just 300. Depending upon the linked UI in use, it could explain where the 330 figure is coming from, although that's an oddity of itself. Simply enough explained, the real capacity is 300 but you can increase funding beyond 100% for such lots, hence the 10% boost. One other thing, I notice too the radius the museum affects is also really low compared to the default Maxis ones. Again not necessarily an error, but something I would change myself.

So the question is, what capacity would you like them to be? PIM-X can calculate such properties based on the size of the model (building). However, it recommends a capacity of 124,300 with monthly costs of $34,650. Now that might well be accurate scaling, but seems very out of whack in terms of the game and benefits of a museum.

If you would like me to attach some modified files for you, that's easily done now I have them around anyhow. But I need to know what sort of capacity you'd like and whether or not you want to up-rate the rest of the Properties, including all costs/benefits/negatives to match or just bump the capacity.

Also note, the downloads include three files, the SC4Desc files are useless and can be safely deleted.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I would really appreciate this, including everything, even the radius.

100000 Capacity with monthly costs of $10.000, what do you think?

What are these for? There are many downloads around including SC4Dec files.

So I've used this as a baseline, but the costs are a little higher, with less capacity, trying to keep the other stats in balance along the way. My reasoning started by looking at good functioning museum coverage using the default lots, essentially the properties/costs of having 4 museums and the major art museum it then unlocks. Such a setup combined offers 40,000 capacity with total costs of 2,050 a month. This is sufficient to sustain a population somewhere in the region of 3.3 million sims. Based on one example city I checked with 500k residents, I was using less than 6k of that 40k capacity to run things, which scales to approx 3.3 million. Lastly the radius of the Maxis museums are all set such as to cover an entire large city tile, so I've just kept the default because anything higher doesn't actually improve anything, although the originals had a very low radius by comparison.

In case you prefer it, I've created two variants a regular and extreme version, the first is near the desired monthly cost, the second is nearer your desired capacity:

    MGB - DMScopio_MuseumUpdate.7z

    Disney Concert Hall:

    44k Cap @ $13,600 (94.6k @ $27,100)

    David Lu Art Center:

    39.9k Cap @ $12,450 (85.8k Cap @ $24,800)

Honestly the extreme version (stats in brackets) seems like overkill for all but the most extreme CAM user to me, the regular one is better modded for general use. Essentially you can plop one of these museums and gain the effectiveness of a complete system of the Maxis ones.

I've also given these replacement lots new IDs, because otherwise such changes have the potential to break your save files. You should remove any previous instances of these in saved cities (easy to check by looking at capacity), once they are gone you can safely delete the original .SC4Lot files and just keep my new ones. If you use one of my updated lots, you need keep only the .SC4Model files, containing the buildings (models), from the original download.

I should be more clear, in the case of these two, you should delete them, since they aren't doing anything.

Typically SC4Desc files contain Exemplars of one type or another, but some are temporarily files, which get added to the SC4Lot file during creation. The ones in this pack are such temporary files and they should ideally not be included in any upload. But you need to take care, because the same might not be true of other SC4Desc files, so unless you know how to check what they contain, it's best to leave them alone.
