Brown boxes with BSC Seaports mod

Hello all!  I'm brand new to Simtropolis but am returning to the best city builder game from a long break.

Long story short, I've downloaded a ton of mods for the GOG version of the game. One is the BSC Seaports mod. I've spent all morning installing the dependencies in a way I thought was correct. Most things look right when I plop, but there are two issues:

1. Some random boxes show up on some lots (missing/misplaced dependencies?)

2. The BSC Custom Seaports 1 through 9 are just blank paved spots. (missing/misplaced dependencies?)

Screenshots of the issue are below, as well as the general structure of my Plugins folder.

I've looked through the BSC Seaports Readme, the SC4 Devotion BSC Seaports support thread, and I'm all out of ideas. I ran the cleanitol file but it says I'm missing dependencies that I know I have downloaded.

Can anyone help me?

    UPDATE:

In the time it took to approve my post, I went through and determined which of the seaports were giving me brown boxes. I was missing a small number of dependencies.

But this problem remains: The BSC Custom Seaports are still blank paved areas. The guide doesn't mention much about those, and I don't think I'll wind up placing them in my cities. But what are they intended to do? Are they lots that we can place custom props on in some editor? Or am I still having a display/enabler problem?

I'm not 100% sure, but IIRC the Custom Seaports are mainly there to support if someone wanted to use the PEG Seaports with the BSC Seaport Controller (though you could develop/lot your own custom seaport and assign it to one of these blanks, though it's a bit more involved and require a bit more advanced modding skills). The PEG Seaports are using the PEG Master Seaport Controller, while the BSC Seaports are using the BSC Seaport controller. The two can not and strictly must not be used together. In general you don't need the custom seaports.

Other thing, while generally doesn't matter where the files are until they are in the Plugins, the BSC Mega Props are providing a default folder structure (I spent quite a few months to extract and reorganize them over at LEX), well mostly everything BSC related over at LEX is providing a default folder structure. It best would be if you used that structure.

Could you tell me the name of that large port with the bunch of trees on it? I think the main bulding is missing from there, but after the image I can not say for sure which lot that is.

    You have two problems

1 First you installed the mods badly. When you extract a mod like BSC Mega Prop Pack you just have to copy the folder where the files are contained in the case: SimCity 4>Plugins>BSC this sort order was created because it allows a better management of mods and have mods a priority loading compared to other mods

2 Surely you forgot some addiction to download. The LEX Dependency Tracker is currently broken and the BSC Seaport documentation is completely a disaster. My recommendation is to try to locate the missing mods or use CDK Seaport controller that I personally consider better than BSC Seaport Controller

Thanks! That one is the SNM Naval Port. And I found one dependency that I was missing. I downloaded it and all is well.

If the Custom Seaports are sort of DIY, then I won't mess with those. The rest seem to be working just fine.

    Thanks for the help!

I've now reoriented all my mod folders. They're in the proper directory structure now. It is indeed better looking now.

And I was able to find the last few prop packs that I need for the lots I needed.

So I'm all good now! Thanks everyone!

Just a few things to add...

First, the BSC Seaports come with a series of 'Blocker' files, you can use these to suppress from the menus any of those Seaports from the pack you do not wish to use. I.e. you don't actually need to install all the seaports, you just add the Blocker for those seaports you don't want into your Plugins folder.

Indeed a number of the Custom Seaports are pre-made such that they will allow use of the PEG Seaports (without it's controller) in conjunction with the BSC Seaports. This is why they appear completely blank, because you don't have the requisite 'override' file that actually contains the lots in question.

However the remainder are just blank templates, which you can re-lot as custom functional seaports, but of course all that is optional and hideously complicated with no instructions anywhere on how.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
