Huge unfixable hole in the ground

Hi everyone,

I  sometimes get an issue when building with NAM pieces.

After placing the piece, I get a huge hole in the ground, square shaped that is impossible to fix.  I tried with the landscaping tools and the NAM digger/raiser, but nothing happens

This usually happens when i try to place RHW Flex Height Transition, or Draggable elevated Railways.

Any idea how to remove this ?

I'm playing the deluxe steam version with the latest NAM version, other mods are mainly buildings, I don't have any terrain mod.

Thank you for your help!

That's been dubbed the "sinkhole to China", even if actually it only goes as deep as 250 metres under sea level in game, and shouldn't be happening, so it would be useful if you could try to replicate it and show us exactly which pieces and patterns are causing it.

Luckily, the hole is quite easy to fix. You probably noticed it cannot be recovered by using a network tool; that's because it goes underwater, but as it is too small, it's not enough to allow the game to create a bridge that would make that evident. You can use the levelling tool to raise it back to the surrounding terrain level. If you want to save some money on the process, you can press Control + Alt + Shift while clicking on the God Mode button to use the free terraforming tools available when starting a city, and to make them work only on the sinkhole, you can press a number between 1-7 with the tool active to change its area of effect.

Thank you so much for your answer.

I got rid of it by not saving my game and starting again with the previous save, i lost a bit of work but at least i didn't have this shortcut to China anymore.

If I get it again i'll try your technique to remove it, and I'll let you know how to reproduce!

    Thanks a lot,

    Hi @Valou.

Check out my question regarding the same issue. Perhaps it can help too.

As @matias93 correctly says you need to level your terrain first. Then, use this page to learn how, instead of using puzzle pieces (which have their individual limitations), you can create desired network through the "pattern design" which is far friendlier and easier to use!

The "SimCity 4" vanilla Opera House is the most evil thing in existence. Avoid.
