NAM for Mac user

Hi,

 

I have recently dl the NAM to use with my MacBook, however I have noticed that it says the following:

The App Store version on macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later does not support mods.

Please can you advise if this is still the case (I am running macOS Monterey 12.5), and does this mean I cannot use the NAM?

There's only a couple of NAM developers with access to the Mac version (@rsc204 regularly uses it, and I use it once a year or so).  In both cases, we're running the Steam version, which operates quite a bit differently than the App Store version, and as such, our ability to provide support to users running the App Store version is basically nonexistent.  As a result, we're reliant solely on hearsay from other users who are running the App Store version themselves. 

The first person we encountered trying to run the App Store version on macOS 11 (Big Sur) opened a thread here and went through a whole process, before concluding it wouldn't run, which is where our original advice there was sourced.  However, there's been other users since who have successfully gotten the NAM to run on macOS 11 and later with the App Store version (see later in the thread), so this information is simply a bit of outdated text that escaped being corrected.  We're not familiar enough with the process to be able to walk an App Store user through it successfully, though.

In short . . . you can run it, but it's a more convoluted process, and not one where we can really be of much assistance, unfortunately.

Thank you for your response. I’m now considering dl steam and taking it from there. 👍🏼
