I have the nam42 uploaded to my game (sc4). This is the first time I am ever playing with mods and a NAM. I don't know what the hell I am doing. Please, for the love of God, I need directions.

For example, what buttons do I press to rotate roads/highways? I only know that when I press tab it switches to a different road/highway. That's all I know (very pathetic).

I don't know how to lay down any highways. I thought it was as simple as placing the highway piece down, and then going back to the road, clicking on the edge of the highway and dragging it. But that doesn't seem to work.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I love the game. I have been playing it since 2005. This is the first time I am playing it with mods and a NAM. PLEASE HELP!!! I would like specific directions for what to do. Thanks.

You're gonna use TAB / SHIFT + TAB to change which starter / network piece you're using, and you'll use HOME / END to select the direction (rotation) of the item you're holding. Some TAB rings will contain a greater variety of items, so make sure to carefully use HOME / END to go through your options until you become familiar with everything.

I'll also note that the current NAM version is 44. During the last versions, we've been adding a lot of content, make sure to upgrade, to address both bugs/issues with older versions, and to make use of the latest features, especially if you're interested in them. You can find the latest NAM version here:

Thad,

I have been studying NAM44 for 2 weeks now.  It is well organized, but it can be overwhelming.

You have four buttons coming off of transit:

Vehicle - slow (support connectivity)

Vehicle - fast (support connectivity)

Rail Options - freight/passenger/HSR/Monorail ...

More rail and odds and ends ...

---

You got a few types of button classes that logically do something:

Draggers - these allow you to build out structure like streets, roads, tracks

Starters - will determine what happens when you drag through them

Flex Type - these are collection of passes which will do some dynamic adjusting of lanes, height etc

* Curves pre made

* FANs (Fractional angle networks)

Transitions height - change heights

Transitions width - obvious and also may act join types

Transitions ramps - getting on and off

Over pieces - obvious

Under pieces - obvious

Puzzle pieces - special single solution pieces

EVERYTHING BUT DRAGGERS USE THE FOLLOWING TECHNIQUE.  THE GAME MAY OFFER TO AUTO BUILD FOR YOU WHEN YOU CROSS THINGS, BUT THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DECIDED TO USE NAM --- KEEPING HITTING CANCEL.

(1)  Select the category you want to work with:  divided into things like NWM (net work widening), RHW (real highway), MIS (interfacing), MHO (redone MAXIS highways), glr (tram), rail, mono.

(2)  Once clicked, cycle through options TAB/SHIFT TAB

(3)  Once you get the option HOME/END to rotate and in some cases changes the level (elevation).

Get a blank city.

Watch these three videos and pausing and try reproduce all on your own.  You will be good to when you reach about 60-70%.  Think of it as a framework and not wizard incantations and will have the right mind set.

1-2 weeks depending on your intensity.  You will need to pause and repeat at your PC; do it with the game running.
