NAM - a break through - lightbulb moment - epiphany

I know how to play SC4.

I have been reading up on NAM44 and grasp what I shall call low speed and high speed vehicle transit.  I want to make that simple distinction or my point will be lost in complexity.  Now, learning NAM is rather difficult mainly due to the scattered documentation.

But I was almost at the point of throwing in the towel.  Why?  The problem of how to connect high speed constructs to low speed constructs seemed to allude me (if one is not using the MAXIS default).  I wanted to use MAXIS override.  Failure do to so would be throwing away much of the power and flexibility that has taken SC4 far beyond 2000.

Yesterday, it finally dawned on me is that little starter (and sometimes flex draggable) MIS is the universal connector.  With that high speed and low speed can be bound.

I am not sure why this receives such low key treatment in the documentation.  IT IS ESSENTIAL.  Like the periodic table that molecules form in an effort to fill their outer electron shells.  Little MIS is one of the elemental forces of NAM which unifies everything.  With it fast and slow networks sit distinct like relativity and the standard quantum model.  (Both correct; both separate).  With MIS we have the unified theory of everything.

I strongly suggest that MIS receive far more than passing treatment in the documents.  It is a key concepts that allows NAM total replacement of all thing MAXIS.

Thank you.  (please accept this not as a criticism, but as a desire for NAM to achieve is full penetration among SC4 players)

I have to say that the MHO whilst a popular feature is by no means a default replacement and it’s function is in many ways to covert the MHY into a RHW add on. As such MIS and RHW are key to making use of MHO, something which I do believe is clearly explained in the specific PDF for this feature. Find that in the ‘old’ folder of the NAM .zip download.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

    Dear MGB and NAM Team,

I meant no offense or insult.  I fully realize that NAM is a 20 year effort (still plan to read the Tarkus Epic) and that many components started as independent projects.

The results achieved are amazing and you have truly breathed new life into SC4.  I understand software engineering.  The present view is the information theory and physics are very close.  And so, software engineering is a fight against energy to increase local order/structure.

My point was simply that NAM does have a beautiful taxonomy and MIS is very much the glue.  If one was ever to write the 2022 Standard NAM Model book, MIS would figure very prominently.

PS:  What you said of CS is true.  Remove traffic and there is not much game there.  Park Life, Campus, Airport, Industry DLCs are all very similar modules built on the same scaffolding.  Pretty, but then what?
