CAM doesn't seem to be working. I followed the Windows 10 post-install instructions

Hello, I downloaded and installed CAM from this website and also followed the pinned instructions to install it on w10 machines. I picked the Extended option but it doesn't seem to be working fine, I can't get stage 4+ farms even when all the requirements are met.

This is a new city started after adding CAM. No mod changes have been made since I started this city.

Following the CAM 2.1.0 manual the thresholds for IR are:

And the stage caps are:

I have 10.140 in Industry so that would allow me to grow stage 5 farms.

I have power, water, parks and fire. That would allow me to grow stage 10 farms. (but I can only grow stage 5 due to threshold limit)

Do you have any such farms installed?, whilst I don't know the specifics of the included adjustments to the Maxis content, I do know it doesn't go as far as to cover all growth stages as-is. You may simply need to find and install some suitable CAM-patible farms.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

    Hello! thanks for answering.
AFAIK there are no dependencies. The manual and the modpage hosted here don't list dependencies. Also this blog by Tarkus says it has 0 dependencies https://simtarkus.wordpress.com/2013/04/26/the-CAM-colossus-addon-mod-separating-fact-from-fiction/

edit: oh wait, so if I don't have any stage 4 farm added then none will grow? If this is true then it's a true headache to actually use CAM, like there are no "good" starter packs and each pack I see has a huge list of dependencies. I only want a few buildings on each stage so that I can enjoy 100% of CAM. Isn't there any pack like that?

I've just looked over the list in the CAM 1.0 manual with the new stats for the Maxis Lots (which was carried over to CAM 2.1.0).  It does indeed appear that none of the in-game Lots listed in the appendices were modified to occupy Stage 4 or above for I-Ag, and there is a note in the section about farming which also confirms this.

The mod technically will work without dependencies, but it does indeed appear that some growth stages it allows are (unfortunately) not supported by the redesigned Maxis Lots included in the mod itself.  I'll note, CAM 2.1.0 also has some additional stages (particularly on the I-Ag side) that weren't in CAM 1.0, and have never had Lots developed for them at all--not even ones with massive lists of dependencies.

While I don't follow CAM-e-lots at all, there is this to take advantage of the higher farm stages:

But it does indeed require a bunch of dependencies.

Well I appreciate the answers but I think this is the end of my SimCity 4 journey. I was extremely happy to play the game again and to see my city grow with mods but things like this really destroy that feeling. It becomes so tiresome and requires so much time and effort to have a proper modded CAM with all stages working. Having to download a ton of dependencies was already a huge red flag, I didn't even reach the 6th from Tarkus' list and I already had to download 49 files and almost all of them have instructions, also some of those 49 files are dependencies that are packed together so it actually expands to a lot more. The downloading process is slow because of limits in sc4devotion and I don't even know exactly what I'm downloading, I don't know how many stages I'm covering, with how many buildings on each, nothing. Also almost all links are broken, some need the "https://" added, others need the "https://www.", some link to simtropolis, some to sc4devotion, others link to other external sites

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not ungrateful or lazy, I'm not complaining about the community or mod makers, I'm just complaining about how it could be made easier but instead it's extremely complex. A simple pack containing the entire list Tarkus' gives or something like that is enough for people like me to start playing. They don't even need updates since most of the files (if not all) I'm downloading didn't receive an update since 2007. I'm really surprised there aren't "modpacks" already available.

Anyway, thank you everyone and thanks to the people that keep SC4 alive. Hope we can meet again in the future when, hopefully, this situation changed

@Lemonade For what it's worth, CAM doesn't require stage 4 farms, and most players who play with CAM simply use the first 3 stages for agriculture. The only reason you would need to install additional farms is if your personal play style requires high-density farming.

Most players switch over to dirty industry, manufacturing, and high-tech to support the industrial side of their economy. But it's also possible to play CAM with a largely agricultural region that maxes out at stage 3. Unlike the base game, CAM will support demand for agriculture in small and mid-sized cities, which makes it really valuable if you want to build an agricultural region.

Short version: CAM has no dependencies, because playing the higher growth stages is entirely optional, and the extended stages are just a small part of how CAM improves the game.

I and prolly many peeps here fully understand where you are coming from. *

When I got my head around the need for dependencies for most content, I too started to grab some and just go with it. Then I ran into the chained deps you mentioned and the broken linkys and then the lost little sites and I just decided to play vanilla. Or mostly such. So I have things like terrain, water, rock, beach, and slope mods, then the necessary fix ones, and from there I just grab stuff which doesn't need deps or only requires one or two of the main deps.

It really is possible to have fun in SC4 without jumping thru a million hoops.

It's unfortunate the way all the various sites evolved where including everything together steps on creators' toes and so it's not likely to change to the extent which would be needed for those farms I linked to.

OTHO, there is an effort to get all the base fixes in place some day. (But even that is pushed back due to lack of interest in the beta threads we created and now RL has thrown a big curve ball so any modding is out for us for a few months.)
