I have lately taken an interest in the game since playing it as a kid and constantly failing, I'm trying to install mods just to have a functional game. Unfortunately functional seaports is not an easy mod to install, I downloaded the zip file here and read the readme, installed cleanitol and ran it, but I'm missing the executable file (see pic), it's not in the zipped folder that I downloaded, where should I get it? Thanks for the help in advance!

The installer has been removed as part of the 'Project Zip' initiative, all the files you need to install for the mod are in the X-Ports folder, which you should copy into Plugins. The Readme should state any optional files, sometimes you don't need or want everything.

Once you've done that, you can run each of the 4 text files through Cleanitol, three of them will look for the dependencies needed and tell you if any are missing. So you should install any dependencies you've already downloaded, for example using the LEX Dependency Tracker, before running these scripts. One (Script 3) will remove certain files that are part of the dependencies noted in the first 2 scripts.

Follow a few simple rules and you'll have what is a pretty-complex mod setup and working in no time:

  • You should run each script, only moving to the next after it no longer finds missing files.
  • Each script should be run in the order they are numbered.

Essentially these scripts just provide a semi-automated check that everything you need is present and everything you don't get's removed.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
