I'm trying to make a road in a tunnel under downtown.  It's got to be in there, right?!  I've seen screenshots of tunnels before.  How do I make a tunnel under my city?  I tried using the FLUP road tool to no avail.   I'm really new to NAM and it's a bit overwhelming.  This probably won't be my last question! *:)

To make a regular tunnel, you simply need to have the appropriate terrain to create a tunnel portal. So for example if you've a hill and you drag a supported network from one side to the other, the game will automatically make a tunnel for you.

The FLUPs from the NAM were originally intended more to make underpasses, such as a Street, Road or Avenue going under a Rail Line, Highway or similar. These use modular "Puzzle Pieces", when you must place each tile of the crossing one at a time using the Tab-Rings. I upload a tutorial video for the FLUPs system onto YouTube a while back, the FLUPs (in the Road Menu) have not changed since, so it's all relevant:

Note too that I have a bunch of NAM tutorials on my channel, which were specifically intended for beginners with the NAM.

I should also add, very recently a new "draggable" implementation for the FLUPs system has started to appear in the NAM. This system is much more flexible and intuitive, using as it does the Subway Tool to make tunnels between the ploppable portals. I believe that it's only working for selected RHW networks, but the intention is to expand this in future to completely replace the original FLUPs system, documentation for that exists here.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
