Retexturing a base conflict resolution

Hello,

A while ago @mrbisonm  was very kind and retextured the base of a few lots for me (eg. https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3034)

The goal was to turn the base lot from a unique texture to the 'cobble-stoned' common texture.  He graciously did so, however we ran into an issue.  In his game they worked find and showed up correctly, however in mine the lots now have the NAM 'cobblestone' base textures.

On the right you can see the pre-modded building, and on the left, the ones with the cobble stone base texture.  The road has the correct 'cobble-stoned' texture.

It would appear I have a conflict in my game that he does not in his, does anyone know how to solve this?  I attached the modified lots in case that helps.

thank you

@mrbisonm

The reason is, fortunately, very simple (and annoying): It was a mistake on my part (since you got this texture from me). The Cobble Stoned base texture has an ID of 30365000, and the SFBT Cobblestone texture of 30360000. I don't exactly know the details about this, but this seems to be a case of wealth-dependant textures, where, as long as you have the SFBT Essentials installed (mrbisonman probably doesn't), the texture will always be replaced this way. At least I tried it this way, I plopped one of your lots in a city two times, the first time with the SFBT Essentials installed, the second time without. The first time, the Cobble Stoned texture got replaced, the second time not.

I'll change the texture ID in the next days, this seems to be the only solution. Sorry for the inconvenience, I initially thought this would only happen if the 5th digit of a texture would be between 1-3.

Thank you so much @11241036, I am glad this is is a simple fix.  Apologies for forgetting to mention you in the initial post for your creating of the initial texture file.  Will the lots need to be fixed after your texture id change or how do I proceed from here?

Yes, I have the SFBT Cobblestone texture installed, but when I create lots, I use an empty Pluginsfolder, since Nexis lots don't usually use any dependencies. So, do I have to relot these with the SBFT essentials installed?

Is there a reason why you can't just override the original texture?, as opposed to editing every lot containing it, which would be much quicker.

    • Yes 1

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Yes, at least if I do it like I planned, it requires me to change the texture ID, which makes editing the lots necessary. Fortunately, it's as simple as replacing the broken texture.

BTW, I've actually already released this texture here, you might want to point your plugin to it. I'll fix this soon.

Nope, not necessarily. All of this was just a problem I didn't think of. The game reads 30365000, but displays 30360000 instead. If you don't install 30360000, the game cannot do this, thus, it displays 30365000.

Well, some people might want to have multiple choices for cobblestone base textures. I don't see any point in creating an override for the existing texture.

Thank you, I really look forward to this.  Your level of understanding this game is amazing. I can do a little with ilive, but I am so impressed how quickly you understood this issue.

Thank you. I fixed the texture, you might want to download it there.
