Hi,

I know how to use Ilive's Reader to batch process properties within a .dat file (using the analyzer to find and then change the same property across multiple files).

However, I don't know how (if indeed it's even possible), to do the same to multiple files not contained within a .dat (within a folder for e.g).

Can this be done and if so how? It would be a bit of a game changer as I slowly CAMify my entire plugin collection...

Cheers.

I suspect you could make this possible using the scripting function, but if coding that in LUA is beyond your skill set, this won't be an option.

Seems to me the easiest solution is to DAT-Pack the files together so you can do one edit for all.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

    Thanks mate,

is Files2Dat the way to go to speed that process up? (I've only ever compiled .dats by "hand", but doing so in this instance will largely negate the benefits of the batch processing). However, it's not a new app and I thought something superior may have come along...

It's true, I don't know LUA, (or any programming language for that matter). The only scripts I've ever written were with the help of a GUI but, on the off chance anyone out there with the necessary skills is willing to give this a go, I, and no doubt others, would be most appreciative.

Regardless, I am off to give files2dat a spin... *:)

Well, it does what it says (files to dat), which is great. Unfortunately it doesn't search within subfolders.

Let me explain the process I have just undertaken in case anyone can tell me a better way of doing it:

So I have a parent folder filled with the folders of individual BATs (in this case Jestarr's Industrials). Having already adjusted (in this case added) appropriate filling degrees (boy did they need them done), I've noticed all their brick type industrials were zoned for high density. I want to have everything following @T Wrecks's IRM standard so these need to be changed to medium density. So I fired up files2dat, directed it to the Jestarr folder (which only contained the relevant BATs - I'm not changing the modern looking IM or the high tech) , but of course it found nothing. So I searched the folder (in windows explorer) for sc4lot files, dragged these into a new folder from which I was able to quickly merge everything into a dat and change the zone types properties to medium density. (so far, hooray!)

The problem though is that now everything is in the dat. I know as I go on that I won't want ALL of the BATs and will want to make edits to the lots as well. Of course this deleting/editing can still be done, either within the dat, or I can manually remove individual BATs to their respective folders. I was just hoping there might be a way to effect these changes whilst keeping the individual BATs in isolation...

If not, so be it - this is still a great time saver.
