Hi @TheEstGut

I found your Bananaland map as you uploaded to the STEX just now. It looks very nice what you've made there too as a hand terraformed region. *:)

For your file to be downloaded all at once, this needs it to be added to a zip archive. On your computer when selecting all of the files in the region's folder, there should be an option when right clicking to Send To a compressed (zipped) archive. See this tutorial for a way to do this on Windows 10 (and earlier versions).

Then you can upload it as a single file which can be downloaded on its own.

Edit: Cool. I see you've uploaded a zip now as your file.

Rendered regions are quite large in file size, and this is why yours is over 70 MB overall. There is a way around this though, and that's to create a SC4M file or a grayscale which can then be used for rendering. A tool which can do this is SC4Mapper and it's really useful. It has the ability to render maps, and also load any region and then use the "Export Region" option to save it so anyone can render it themselves from a smaller individual file. I made a post here which explains a bit about mapping formats and rendering.

If you do wish to upload a smaller file, this is an option for doing so with the SC4M format (while still preserving the rendering quality).

Let me know if you'd like me to do this for you. *;)

If you make maps from photoshop, remember the tile sizes are 64x64(small) 128x128(medium)256x256(large). So if you wanted to make a 4 tile medium square map, the dimensions would be 256x256. But when putting it through the SC4Mapper, you must add 1 to each overall dimension, as the program will size it down to the next level. Don't ask me why it does that, it just does.

Even for in game rendering the grayscale needs that +1. *;)

It was unknown for a very long time, however there is an explanation in The Mystery of +1 for Grayscale SC4 Maps Solved topic. *:)

Hi, sorry to piggy back on your thread here, but I had a question about how to add blank regions to the Top of an existing region?? I know how to edit the config file to enlarge the region but I can only add to the bottom and the right side of the map using that method.

I already attempted once by naming each city in my region, editing the config and then importing the cities down but then I messed up when I re-edited the config and all the blank cities at the top were lost, making all my work for nothing. I don't know if it's just my game/computer or if it's like this for everyone but it takes quite a bit of time to do it that way.

Any assistance from the pros would be most appreciated! :)

Yeah, that is the way to do it.

Ofc, you'll want to keep a separate backup copy of your region, but creating the new, larger config.bmp, opening that as an empty region, and then importing the city tiles one by one (by one by one...) into their new locations is the only way we know to add new empty tiles to the top or left side of the region.
