High Sierra Landmarks not downloading

Hi all. Hoping maybe someone can help me with this interesting issue.

I have recently wanted to get back to playing SC4 on my laptop.  I always had a mac, but recently got a Mac Pro w/ High Sierra.

I am able to download files with an interesting exception.  Anything that would go into the road, park, school, police, fire, etc works.  However any building that should be in the landmark section just does not show up.  It is really bizarre.  I tired several different files, old and new and same deal.  If I do rail, hole diggers, train stations… all go where they are suppose to in game.

Let's say I want to put a basic McDonald's in my city, the file is place correctly in the plug-ins folder but it just doesn't show up in game.

Any suggestions or ideas why this could be happening would be greatly appreciated.  I am really confused.

Thanks in advance.

The first thing which comes to mind as my best guess is this just happens to coincide with the Mac version of SC4 file limit for plugins. Could you try removing a handful that are currently working in other menus and then drop in one which should show up in the Landmarks?

The weird thing is that this a fresh start with no plugins in the folder at all until I just added only a handful of plugins added today.  I would say I have a total of five random plugins all together.

    Curiouser and curiouser. :O

Toss me a linky to one of the Landmarks which don't show up as well as a train station (or something else ploppable which does) and I'll take a peek in Reader to see if I can see any obvious reason.

Note: If anyone else is reading this, it continues here as there was a glitch with the post editor in this thread.

And, @Mererick, there's also something known as the Mac Rep bug. That'll be for things like transit stations (bus, train, etc), education (schools, libraries, etc), and medical (clinics and hospitals) where they will have a listed capacity and in the Mac version of the game you'll only see 1/1000th of that. So, let's say you get a bus station that says it'll handle 25,000 commuters and it has the Rep Bug, you'd only get 25 before it turns red in the data view. These can be tweaked using Reader.

If you run into any of them, let me know and I can fix them for you.

Hi @Mererick and welcome back to Simtropolis. *:)

Just adding to what Cori has said...

For the Ivy Nightclub building, the growth stage is 6 of 8 for CS$$$ and so it might take a little while to develop with sufficient demand.

Something I just thought to mention is how there's a tool named File Juicer which can come in handy for Mac users like yourself. This is useful for extracting the contents of executable (.exe) files which are installers for SC4 content items. There is a major project led by @Tyberius06 to repackage files on the SC4Devotion LEX to regular zip archives, but for now and these are where File Juicer can usually do the trick. Should any not open though, let us know and we can assist.

Commonly these executables will be contained within zip files once downloaded, and they'll have "Install_" at the start of a file name.

A free alternative to File Juicer is Wineskin, which will let you run the installers on a Mac.  It's easy to use and I've never had a problem with it.

Thank you so much everyone for all the help!

Everything has seemed to work itself out and by the grace of the Llama Gods of SC4, I got the NAM download and working!  I will let anyone know if I run into any issues once I really get cracking at the game.
