I'm just getting back into SC4, although I've never made it that deep before, and I'm looking for mods to improve my experience. There's a couple issues that I've run into with U-Drive It that I'm looking for mods to hopefully fix. Both of them have to do with ridiculous behaviour from drivers when you're driving a vehicle with a siren.

1. Cars always pull over by driving forward and off to the side. Even when they are at an intersection that you are crossing. So what happens is they pull into the intersection and stop in the middle of the intersection! 

 

2. Trucks with trailers drop them in the middle of the road before pulling over.

 

I can't believe that either of these scenarios are "performing as intended". So are there any fixes for this? I tried googling it, but I can't parse the issue in a way that's getting me any results.

Hiya, @Deltree711. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

I do know there's at least one U-Drive It fix for a particular mission, but for the actual behavior of the Sims you've described there prolly is not. (Hopefully someone else will be able to prove me wrong on that tho.) Within the .dat files we have modding access to, the missions are all handled by LUA code. I've written extensively in LUA for the game on a couple of unrelated projects, but I am aware that their behavior when an emergency vehicle is approaching them is a toggle for whether or not they will do the pullover routine. The problem is that said routine itself is either in other LUA code I've not investigated or it's hard coded in the .exe part of the game.

Here's hoping someone else has a better reply than mine. *;)

Honestly with the age of the game, if it's not working after installing the EP1 patch, then it's probably there to stay.

In terms of a 3rd party fix/mod, whilst SC4 has a lot that we can modify, by way of lists of properties (exemplars), which affect the behaviour of everything. Much of what makes the game work is hard-coded into the games main .exe, which realistically-speaking, we can't modify.

As Corina points out, much of the win/lose coding for U-Drive It was handled by plug-in scripts (LUA), which we can change. But that doesn't to my knowledge handle the behaviour of automata at all. As such I think these are things you'll probably just have to live with.
