So i added a passenger and car ferry, then added a bus stop in front of it. Everything is normal, all peds took the bus, road getting congested, income from mass transit getting doubled as you can see here

Spoiler

But then, since the road getting congested, i replaced the bus stop with subway. the subway has the same amount of usage as the bus stop, but the income from mass transit didn't get increased. And looks like the problem is from the ferry, it only has few hundreds usage.

Spoiler

Don't know what to do now, whats your guys opinion? currently on El Capitan and using NAM 36

The first thing I wonder is if the Sims now have jobs they can get to elsewhere via the subway and so no longer need to take the ferry.

Edit: Since your question prolly isn't specific to running the game on a Mac, I'm moving this over to the General Discussion where more peeps will see it. *;)

How long did you run the simulation after demolishing the bus stop? It might take a year or two to recalculate routes and display accurate stats.

Try also looking at the volume display of the traffic map. It can be more informative than the congestion display.

I did speed up the game before taking the vid, i even left it for long time when i tried to figure out what was the problem, i know it will still show blue arrow when using route query tool after demolishing the bus stop for a while.

And not sure what are you trying to analyze more but here it is (i remade it again and got the same result)

the thing is, there is only 1 ferry so all commuters there came from other city, and there is only 1 subway line (from ferry to rail station)

    @ewd

I did some testing and I'm convinced it is indeed a bug in the game. :O

I set it up in such a way to eliminate as many potential variables as possible. Here I started with two newly created city tiles with the only transportation between them being via the ferry. I went back and forth between them several times to build them up to a significant number of ferry passengers.

    Side by side city tiles:

    01 Ferry Bug.jpg

Incoming from the Workers tile are 10,230 Sims with 8,133 jumping off the boat and catching a bus:

    02 Ferry Bug.jpg

Total income from mass transit is $1,403:

    03 Ferry Bug.jpg

In the Workers city tile there are 10,232 ferry passengers. (The numbers don't exactly match due to slight fluctuations in population.)

    04 Ferry Bug.jpg

Now back to the Jobs city and I've replaced all bus stations with subway:

    05 Ferry Bug.jpg

Run a few years and suddenly it is only counting the ferry passengers as those who drive off of the boat:

    06 Ferry Bug.jpg

Total fares have dropped to $789:

    07 Ferry Bug.jpg

I wondered if it mattered that they go on the ferry in the Workers city by riding the bus and then changing to the subway when they disembarked so I replaced all the bus stations in the Workers city with subway too:

    08 Ferry Bug.jpg

Only a minor change there in the number sailing to work:

    09 Ferry Bug.jpg

However, it's still borked in the Jobs city:

I would doubt it's something that could be easily rectified with modding. Everything thus falls into two categories, data in properties that we can edit/override or code in the core game, which we can't edit. Anything that's part of the code is pretty much off limits, although its possible to circumvent that, the realities of doing so mean it simply isn't likely to happen.

I'm looking into the issue from the other perspective, to see if maybe some transit switch modifications might alter this behaviour. If I get anywhere with that I'll report back, but I don't have a huge amount of time to dedicate to this right now.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

This idea enticed me to give it a whirl.

Here I modded the Car and Passenger Ferry to also have bus station properties adding a Transit Switch Point (along with Transit Switch Entry Cost and Trans Switch Traffic Capacity). There is no bus or subway station by the Ferry, but I did add a bus stop further up the avenue as shown:

    11 Ferry as Bus Station.jpg

^ And sure enough they ride the bus directly from the Ferry and there is now Ferry traffic. However, this doesn't gain anything over having a bus stop adjacent.

Then I re-modded the Ferry with subway properties instead of bus and although that works we lose the Ferry traffic again so no different than having the Subway Station adjacent:

    12 Ferry as Subway.jpg

I don't mind doing the testing, but I'm out of ideas for what else to change on the Ferry. Perhaps I could add Outside-to-Inside Ride Bus to the subway station, but I'm guessing that wouldn't help unless the Ferry is a bus station too and then it's no different than just having a bus station next to the ferry.
