Can a custom farm lot choose its fields?

My casual search found no prior discussion of how farm lots spawn surrounding fields (words like "field" create result haystacks in Google), so I apologize if this has been asked before:

How does a farm lot spawn fields around itself? Can it be picky about which fields it spawns?

That's actually pretty simple. After you created the building and lot file for your farm in Plugins Manager or PIM-X you'll find a value called Field lots, 0x29b55f73 in the building exemplar.
When you create a farm, those values are set to standard and filled with the Maxis IIDs for farm fields. If you wanna change those fields to different ones like SPAM fields you just edit those values to new ones like: 0x073dc000 (SPAM Tilled Field) or 0x073dc001 (SPAM pasture) or 0xf433bf5d (SG Farm Field Cotton) for example. Save and exit iLive's Reader, and let the farm grow... *:D Simple, eh?! The farm can only pick from farm fields, that are set in the Farm field value.

Kind regards!

    Sweet!

Now to see if I can make that work on an existing lot (@Cori's Soy Farm) that contains crop-fields on the lot but currently spawns no fields around it. I want it to spawn more of its soy fields in adjacent ag-zoned cells if they're there (expand to fill zoned area).

I found two farm lots in the mod, one seasonal and one not (and I carelessly installed both in my plugins). The v5 (seasonal?) farm lists one field lot that is included with the mod, but the v6 farm lists one field by number (84D6CC2B) that is not in the mod. I now suspect that this is a missing dependency, which would leave this farm with no available fields for expansion.

So my next steps will be:

    • Figure out how to track down a field by number (first to see if I have it, and then to acquire it if I don't)
    • Check my problem farm in-game to see if I can tell which version grew without added fields.

Any suggestions on tracking a field number?

I looked on my list of farm field IIDs, that I usually deal with, but no luck. Haven't seen a farm field with that IID yet. Good luck with hunting it down!

    Kind regards!
