Kschmidt SC4 Blog !

Some time I am building cities and making City Journals. Mayon Province .2.0 now running for about 3 years and Anno Europe aswell progressing. This blog is about all things wich come by creating all this stuff !

Sc4 when released in 2003 I hardly touched because of the difficulty playing a game I would like. About ten years later I picked up the game again as I discovered this great community and all of the great contents created during this period. Some years I played it mostly private. Last five years I went ahead started making some short CJ, with fall and rise I discovered the beauty of this for most combination of gameplay and reporting this in CJ !

Last 2 years, my efforts, before and behind the screen went doubled, now I have the City Journal Club and the C.J. are getting better. Restoring what ever files posible, widening my world for future project. Most have been on the Anno Europe project wich doesn´t only ends with the virtual Anno Europe region but aswell like the ANNO France short series has the potential to be more customized as several countries a SC4 customized instalation has been build up. Worldwide I have kind like instalations of Asia (Japan,Hongkong), South America-Africa and some themed one´s like a desert, winter or alien world.

Right now I am working on a expansion of my North American projects wich will focus on the North Eastern American Cities and a more relaxed project covering the american countryside and Pacific West coast !

News about these development I will add as things progress, this will not be on a daily basis, probably once a month !

Nothing more for now to add I hope you will have look here to enjoy some of my work !

    Amazing haystack of  BAT.s Lots compelation !

    Nowadays, SC 4 is more a life as ever since it´s release. Great carrier are the authors who created those great addition to the game. Lot´s bat´s wich I like to share with you in my works in the best way posible. STEX disc´s over a more galery like make´s this more easy. Rural, semi-urban and green scenes might be my best, yet gradualy I like to work more on the special landmarks. There´s  a speciality, some players can create great CBD with a combination of landmarks very fitting. Halljackey large city planning is a great way to avoid not having space for any large bat, most of these are 6x6 or greater. If your used to a grid of 5x5 maximum with some bordering space for larger one´s, thinkin large scale can be daunting as the game will allways not accept those initial large zone´s, returning to 2x2 or 4x4 as maximum or touching those at all. Landmark influence using these to boost city development seem initial obsolete as the game will mostly ignore them unless you choose to start all development at once most growable and commercial zoning done. As with most project instalations I have most move in a distinct direction, my World instalation where I like to keep the best contempary Bat´s Lot´s may be not as pleasing as most landmarks are a wide variety of old and new, variety some only fitting into a certain theme.Neo Classic besides Concrete and steel buildings a not a unlikely combianation.  Landmarks, maybe the game description for all plopable building, yet half might be highrise skyscrapers, landmark may be a building with a certain function or history or are whe now talking about rewards, No these only come available if certain circumstances are met. No, Landmarks, lot´s searching maybe more defined, SC4Devotion way of searching Lot Table makes little more easier as STEX disc, and google search aside moree specific. Compiling those great Bat´s and lot´s, make a list, make a instalation and hope you found the right mix or at least have a space where to have a easy access to !

    Modulair projects creation !

    Mayon province my first plugin directory I builded up I threw up about anything in it, totalized I size about 6 Gigabite of bat´s lot´s etc ! First kind of modulair directory the BSC props and textures as a basis. SFBT, Pegprod, Prepo and some other authors in their respective place. Second for airports I created a full first module RMIP airports wich I can add to any instalation if needed.Third I now assembling other author group oriantated modules like the NDEX. Future I like to create module based on the PEG harbours, WIMP rural harbour and some other more canal based sets. This will allow me to create plugin directories instead like a large puzle piece into compact modules wich includes anything ever created for this author or subject. Specialized, customized, diretories wich only leave a last adjustment like terrain trees, textures,mod´s, and a hansome of bat´s, lot´s wich are only occasionaly needed for the selected plugin project, like regionalized buildings or vehicles. Still there some less defined subjects to be assembled, like different residential housing and some older W2W Industrial estates. Plugin directory setup as with mine is no different to any one else. Working with so many installations I gradualy hope to make more progres in this field. Easing plugin director build up, saving precious time !

    One year of SimCity 4 and maybe something else allmost gone !

    Since my last post, allmost a year has gone. Mayon Cape mayon and the isle´s completed and Europa ANNO on the way ! Background and some samples of other project in development showed, the Chicago project on it´s way  and some other cities like Newyork and my future Mid of America project directory coming of age. All are little sample of what to come in 2020 and beyond ! Realistic I now share my time between SC4 and other games, still if a project becomes more real a can´t resist putting some more time and effort into it. Here and there NAM 36 will be introduced as new or into a excisting project to make some infrastructure nicer or replace some with ready created Bat´s wich where not there when I created it ! ultimately I am also also looking for something more special like excotic or opsite or something more imaginable like super modern or alien ! Last I have a region of my own province wich some work is done on, SimCity 4 now has so many imagible world to create, i´d like create Berlin, London, Madrid, Newyork, Chicago maybe Brasilia or Rio or perhaps Johannesburg or Capetown, not mention all those Asian cities like Hongkong, Singapore or a creation of our old dutch colony of the now Indonesia, let´s stand with Sydney or Mellbourne, Australia ! What can´t be created, still hope that the game will stay playable for the century, if so in a virtualbox with a super computer !

    SPAM - CAM Agricultural Mod & Other !

    This week I have been busy adding Jmyers Farming lots to the Mayon plugins folder and adding CAM and CAM Farm lots to the Anno Europe plugin folder. SPAM wide spread agricultural addon´s I am widely using in Mayon; recently searching RFR I stumbled on the Jmyers Farms so enhancing the Mayon range for later use I added these for even more variety. Workable, I may remove some unnescary files to keep it bellow the 4.7 Gb dvd-r size for backup purpose. Anno Europe aswell having SPAM installed I too wanted CAM for more northern european farms present´CAM for installation on it´s own isn´t such nightmare, except for the msvcp71.dll necesary and some furthur issue modyfying simcity1.dat wich isn´t in the UserDir as I use that system to organize my installations. Daunting tast installing the CAM Farms, all megapacksl resources, texturefiles,props&mods this took a wide two hourse to setup only, still without all the links this would be even more daunting. Now Anno Europe will be finnished in the coming months, I may develope some  spinoff projects wich mostly will be off balkan origin, Anno Europe do have some corners still not fully developed and my brief visit in the CJ Anno Europe; Vienna to slovakia may be extended with the suggested visit to Bratislava. Wide world, American and Asian projects aswell being developed at the background there so much work going around before you can take up the game to play. Experimeting, trying out, wash list of Bat´s, Lot´s, Mmp´s, Mod´s, the list is endless, thankyou all creators for making such wonderfull stuff !
