Difference between medium and high-wealth beautification lots?

The vanilla game's beautification tiles come in two flavours: medium-wealth and high-wealth.

This affects the colour of the surrounding pavement. High-wealth pavement is a red-brown colour, and medium-wealth pavement is a grey colour. The pavement type can be overridden by surrounding zoning, such as high-wealth zoning changing medium-wealth pavement to the high-wealth graphics, and all industry, including high-tech, turning high-wealth pavement to medium-wealth.

The following screenshot, of the vanilla game's main Beautification tiles, shows the different colours of medium and high-wealth pavements.

These beautification tiles are "high-wealth": Open Grass Area, Open Paved Area, all Plaza lots, Large Flower Garden.

These beautification tiles are "medium-wealth": all Park Green lots, Small and Medium Flower Gardens. Other beautification tiles not pictured, including gazebo and tennis court, are set to medium-wealth.

So, my question is this: does the medium/high-wealth setting on beautification tiles only have an effect on graphical appearance, or does it also have an actual effect on gameplay?

The wealth property itself should not have any effect other than the different sidewalk textures, at least none that I know of.

However, since the lots also have other properties (predominantly park effect and landmark effect), they will have slightly different effects in total. I'm not at my SimCity PC right now so I don't know the exact values and if any kind of pattern related to the respective lot's wealth level is discernible. I'd have to look that up, but I guess that it's negligible in practice anyway, i.e. you will probably not experience a situation where a commercial lot doesn't develop anything decent only because you chose an ever so slightly less effective plaza lot (landmark effect).

What I do know off the top of my head is that plazas have a stronger landmark effect (which is mainly beneficial for commercial) whereas parks have a stronger park effect (which is mainly beneficial for residential).

    Thanks.

It's for a park and plaza mod I'm working on. I wanted to have medium-wealth versions of the Open Grass Area, with the same colour of green as Park Greens, as well as alternate Small Plaza and Open Paved Areas. They would be set to medium-wealth purely for visual reasons, so one could match the pavement colours they produce to the surrounding areas.

Sounds like these medium-wealth versions would still be functionally the same as the default high-wealth versions, though, which is what I wanted.

It doesn't surprise me that much that you are starting to make your own stuff. I just replied to your other thread, and I thought right from the start "Now here's someone who asks very good questions and may very well make his way into modding". It happened even faster than I thought, though. * You're learning at an impressive rate - hats off!
