Hey everyone, i'm new to this website so i will apologize in advance if this topic has been solved.

I recently installed NAM 36 in my SimCity Deluxe: Rush Hour on my computer and i built a Tram system in my city, and i wanted to drive it, like you can with the monorail, but whenever i tried it would abruptly end at each station. I know with the monorail you can fix that easily. Is there a way to fix it with the Tram? Any advice would be great!

Thanks everyone!

Hiya, @Apod91. Welcome to Simtropolis posting. *:)

I did a little research and found an old post by @TekindusT suggesting you might need to drag a one-way road over the tram stations to activate them.

Those stations where you can drag the Tram network all the way through from either side of the station, these will work with UDI (U Drive It mode). But, many GLR (Tram) stations work differently, because of the puzzle-piece based design of the networks that use them. Generally speaking, you must activate these stations before they will be correctly pathed. One easy solution is to simply save after building all such stations, then exit and re-load the city. This will ensure the paths are correctly loaded and that all such stations allow Trams to drive through them. But in the interim, using the OWR tool will activate these stations if you prefer.

  • Some, like the 1x1 Tram in Street / Tram in Road stops require you simply click the station with the OWR tool selected.
  • Most need you to drag OWR in a line between all tiles of the station (i.e. inside it).
  • More complex stops, like the Diagonal TiA station require different patterns.

For a complete run down, note the NAM Readme files/documentation can be found here:

Look inside the file "NAM Transit Stations Manual.pdf", which explains all the niches relating to stations in the NAM.

Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

One other thing that I've found is very important with Ground Light Rail (GLR) is flat-and-level ground, especially near stations. Monorails, El trains, subways, and heavy rail don't care much about terrain; they handle grades and rough terrain pretty well. Not so with GLR! If the track is rolling or pitching at it approaches a station, the trams may self-destruct at each station each in U-Drive-It (UDI) mode, even after "activating" paths. To fix that, heavy use of the leveling tool is sometimes necessary, even if it means having to repeatedly destroy and rebuild stations and tracks until one can UDI a GLR tram across station boundaries without self destructing. And if the trams can't pass through stations in UDI, I don't think they can do so in regular simulation mode either, and your stations will go unused. So keep things level for GLR. If your city is very hilly, a different form of transporation may be a better option.

Would a slope mod help for this?

Yes and No. It will help avoid large changes in elevation, but immediately around stations and the station itself is best placed on completely flat ground. Not so much from a UDI perspective for me, but just because TE Lots with connections running through them tend not to work well with any slight slope.
