...  On Saturday December 24, I took my kiddoes to the United States Botanic Garden and to Union Station Washington D.C. My kiddoes, especially my son, have a thing for model trains which were present at both places for the holiday season.  Ironically the pictures I like most weren't really related to trains.  I had about 3-4 other favorites, but I had some problems rendering and uploading.  Regardless, I'm starting to have fun with both my kiddoes and this little camera toy.16.gif

    Hi!

I wanted to create this thread for a couple of reasons.

One is strictly personal.  In the Post Your Pictures thread I became an active contributor once I got my first digital camera and went crazy16.gif taking pictures of my family on various outings.  I've always understood the thread to mean pictures of one's self.  As such I'd try to make sure I had at least one picture include me...But the thing is that I'm really starting to enjoy being on the other end of the camera.

The other reason(s) is administrative.  In Off-Topic we've lately gotten a slew of threads featuring Member's own collections.  A lot of hard work, artistry, and pride has gone into them and I have no complaints against any of them except the multiplication that's resulted.

As a rule, count me as an Administrator who has had no personal problems with Members bringing up older threads with a post that presents a fresh take or starting a new post on an older subject where it might be more prudent just to start afresh.  What is irritating, however, is when multiple threads of essentially the same subject start cropping up all at once.  There are lots of posts on a variety of subjects that essentially could be covered in existing threads that are still quite active.

...I'm not saying that those who have created a Here's my photography thread is doing exactly that, because afterall it probably is kind of impolite to post one's pictures in someone else's thread.  So to meet all of these of conditions I decided to go ahead and create a new one.

Those that already have your own threads can definitely keep yours and this is also not aimed at threads where pictures are only used incidentally and not the main point.  But as this point, pls consider yourselves as Members of our Community and this as a SimTropolis Photo Journal.10.gif

Without further ado, here's my opening entry...

I was expecting this to be up sometime soon, many photography threads have been started lately so placing all of them into one thread would make it easier on the OT forums 19.gif

The picture look great Joe, very nice flowers, my brother would have loved to be there 5.gif
BTW what is that large wood like thing your kids are sitting in?

After seeing this thread, I wanted to post some pictures so I took pictures of my fish tank that I got for Christmas.

This is Madeline, I named her:

Here are a few pictures I took:

This one is of a sunrise in Ontario, Canada.

    onsunrise7as.jpg

This is a glacier up close and personal, in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. The glacier was calving/chunks of ice falling off, and that huge chunk of ice that is the closest was leaning over. All of us on the small boat were holding our breath, waiting for it to fall, but it never did.

This is a deer that I found in a Nature preserve near Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. I saw it and was hiding behind trees trying to get a picture, then it spotted me and came right up to me. The lady that worked there said the deer rarely every comes up to people, so I felt honered.

I like this idea! I'll just post a few pieces that I've done. 5.gif

The small forest in front of my neighborhood, Hale Pi'ilani. It was made for decoration purposes only. Actually, I believe that it's some sort of urban renewal project. Strange. 21.gif

People don't treat their yards very well in this neighborhood... Nor their cars. 18.gif

    p_downtown_sacramento.jpg
I took this picture of Downtown Sacramento while I was on vacation in February 04'. Actually, I was at an EAST Conference (if anyone's ever been to one of those here).

Well, there you have it! I hope that everyone enjoyed the limited amount of photography that I do.

If it's a sunrise, it's either on the Northwest Shore along Thunder Bay District, because thats really the only angle where you could get a shot of a sunrise with no islands or other-side-of-the-lake in the way. Even then, this side of the lake is full of bays and islands, you'd have to have been on the east coast of Black Peninsula, or it was in winter, when the sun rises in the south-east. It's a nice shot. If you have any more from that set, I'd prolly be able to pin point it. Unless there is something there, Icant tell it's really dark.

Im pretty sure I took the picture around the Thunder Bay area. It was back in 1998, so my memory is kinda fuzzy, but I know for sure it wasnt winter. I remember being blown away by how beautiful it was. That picture made it on tv after the weather on Channel 4 News in Detroit. They usually show a weather picture of a viewer. I was excited. I will look to see if I have more pictures of it.

This sounds like a good idea, I'll post some of mine.

These following pictures were taken by me in August of last year when I was on vacation on my boat on the Eastern Cheasepeke Bay in Maryland, USA

Sorry about the blurryness of the picture but they were orignally over 1000x1000 so when they got scaled to 600x800 they got messed up.

    Your
This is a picture of the small bridge connecting two of the docks together.

    Your
In this picture you can see an old small block V-8 from an old fishing boat that hit the bottom many years ago and was left to rot, all that's left now is the engine, keel, and part of the rudder (wood sticking up behind the engine). At low tide, which was when this picture was taken the water depth on this side of the dock is between 4-3 feet where the rock are, then gets shallower towards the woods, yet 6 feet away behind me on the other side of the dock are docked sailboats which draw about 6 to 7 feet.

    Your
Here's the same motor from another angle, here you can see the bottom section of the boat, this are turns into a small creek that can be seen toward the back.

    Your
here a shot of some sail boats from the back of mine.

    Your
Heres one of the many great sunsets,
this was taken from the marina's appropriately named sunset deck.

I'll post some more in the next few days, hope you liked them19.gif
