Hospital Patient Capacity

I'm working with a modded hospital like MaxiMed, or Memorial Hospital.  Whenever I get about 2 million residents, it doesn't matter how many hospitals I build, all of them have the same patient number and capacity.  I used the Ilives reader to jack the capacity up to 999,999, but when I get back into the game, the capacity isn't nearly that high, and the same problem ensues.

Any thoughts?

There are limits on the capacity you can assign to such buildings, not to mention such changes are not dynamic. I.e. you have to remove and re-plop them before you will see the changes. Not to mention, you may find if you've modified the settings, trying to delete them will cause a CTD. Otherwise you will fall victim to the Phantom Slider bug.

You must remove all hospitals from your game, save the cities, then add your modified lot and re-place them all. See the attached file, that's as high a capacity/radius as you can make the hospital go, but it should help.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Thanks a million, rsc204!  Is there a guide/manual or online table I can access that gives the highest mod limits on these types of mods?

Not that I know of, it took me a lot of trial and error to get this one right.

You can go higher, but you have to balance a number of different properties, it's not as simple as altering the capacity and being done. As such, I felt simply having the full radius was a real plus, because now you can place multiple hospitals to bump capacity and still get full coverage without needing a ridiculous number of hospitals in a city.

I have for example another modded hospital, St Addielines by Ill Tonkso:

I gave that a capacity of 42,000 and the same radius. In a large dense city it can work well as a single hospital without capacity problems. But, it's important to note that Maxis made all such services, schools, hospitals, fire, police etc to stack effects, when multiple buildings of a given service are in a city. So one huge hospital won't give as good health to the people, as many hospitals, even if the numbers (capacity) would make it look that way at first glance.

What I find useful to balance realism v.s. this is to make a series of small lots, modded like the small hospital (PIM-X makes creating them a doddle). So a few "dentists", "doctors offices", "pharmacies" etc, using pretty much any building that can fit into a residential or commercial area. Whilst being modded as a hospital (health service) works for me. You can do the same for the other services too, in fact some such buildings do exist on the exchanges if you dig around.
