Thank you Dirk for Your website. You have gathered here for a large community. All new city engineering games are here. This is the perfect solution. I can see and SC4 and SC3000 and Skylines here. It's fine - you made the right choice. Attracting SC3000 and Skylenrs gives a chance to survive SC4. Few of us with SC4... Thank You once more... *:thumb:

    Living and working on SC4 sites have very little. There are SC4Devotiion - this is alive and very professional. There are some another Poland, French, Germany and China sites, but there is almost no activity. There are great authors on these sites. I'm enjoying them.

    I choose Simtropolis! (from 2005) and SC4 Devotion (from 2007)  !!! *:thumb:

    Is there a future for SC4 ? *:???:

    Remarkably, early next year will mark the 15th anniversary of Simtropolis and SC4, and we'll be planning something special in commemoration. *:party:

    The simtropolis.com domain was officially registered on 2nd December 2002. However, there was a month or so before the site was developed from the ground up into a fully operational state. In retrospective, there was no knowing the community would grow to the extent it has today. This makes Dirk's choice of the name 'Simtropolis' all the more ingenious, since it aptly suits all types of city-builders, and hasn't limited scope to the SimCity series.

    Sim = Simulation

    Polis = City

    Understandably, SimCity 4 has been the overwhelming focus for the majority of the site's history. That's how it all started. Though it's much harder to involve further subjects if the domain name says otherwise. We will always be open to supporting other city-builders as they come along into focus.

    I'd say yes, absolutely there is.

    Perhaps an eventual limitation will be backwards compatibility on modern systems, especially following recent trends. But at least for the foreseeable future that isn't an immediate concern. Given there are working optimised digital versions (e.g. GOG), we just need to be wary.

    I always believe it's all about content & community. As long as there's new BATs, lots, mods & maps being created (which there is), and sites like ours are here to provide the platform (which ain't about to change), SC4 will continue to live and prosper. There's no need for it to compete with newer games, because it still has strong appeal in its own right.

    And after all, it seems the outlook of a certain predecessor is also becoming increasingly brighter. *;)
