Atlantis Condo Error

So, I've installed the Atlantis Condo Landmark (attached) and it said I need Plug-in DLL. I'm not sure where to get that. I tried the SC3_Plug-In_1.Exe but that just installs The Duomo landmark which also says I need Plug-in DLL. Then I tried the SC3kAddOnPlug-In.exe and that wants to install an older version of MaxisAddOn.dll which GoG already provided. Any idea what the game really wants and where to get it?

Here's what I see:

^ Notice there is no preview.

And when I plop it I see:

However, the first landmark I installed shows up just fine:

img0541.jpg.c521e77e79b8959c3d98c7c6a75b

So, I'm confuzzled. Of all the files @catty-cb sent me I don't see any other that looks like it relates to a plug-in dll. :uhm:

Edit: Deleted Attachment since this is resolved.

Ok, so the one I have is an already converted SC3 Landmark that SC3K doesn't like? And so for any that give the same error I need to find the building version then run it thru the converter? Seems like I'd want to do that for any that give an error and then just post the final working version on the STEX. (If I'm understanding this correctly.)

I never converted any of the SC3 files, as near as possible I duplicated what had been on the official site so if it was a SC3 file at Maxis then it stayed a SC3 file at CB, I left it up to anyone who wanted to download them to make the necessary changes to it if they wanted to have it in SC3K

Phooey. Then I'm confuzzled again. The file I'm working with already has .PIN and .DAT files in it and it does show up in the Landmark placement window. I guess I'll need to register at your site so I can get the .BLD version you linked to and go from there.

Much as I'll be happy to see you over at CB, the file I sent you should be identical to the file on the CBEX ... the landmark converter programs converts two type of files

This tool will convert Building Architect Plus and original BAT (.bld) files into Landmark buildings for use in SimCity 3000 Unlimited

So I'm guessing and it is just a guess that Atlantis Condo is a "Building Architect Plus" file not a "original BAT (.bld)" file  :???:

Ok. It's prolly just my lack of understanding as I never had any extras for the original game when I got it years ago. I'll make unzipping and playing with the converter my next project for tomorrow and see how that goes.

Ok, I've played with the Landmark Converter. Here's the problem: It only accepts .bld files as the input and does successfully create the .dat and .pin files into the PlugIn folder and then they are available in game from the landmark menu. (I tested this with the A1 Clongowes Castle building.) The problem remains that the Atlantis Condo zip already contains .dat and .pin files and no .bld file. I'm also not sure what the difference is between SC3 and SC3K you mention. I presume the former is meant to be the original game and the latter is the Unlimited version.

Here's the error message I get when running the Atlantis_Condo.exe installer:

Its been so long since I really played with SC3K ie made changes to the plugin folder that in a lot of ways this is like starting a new game.

I've been using the disk version of SC3K, did get the GOG version but haven't had time to do anything with it ... anyway I'm pretty certain it wants this file

    https://community.simtropolis.com/clubs/26-city-builders-website/cbex/download?path=SC3%2Band%2BSC3K%2BDownloads%2Fsc3kaddonplug-in.zip

But as you have found GOG had a different version of it

    Quote

Then I tried the SC3kAddOnPlug-In.exe and that wants to install an older version of MaxisAddOn.dll which GoG already provided.

I'm assuming it was changed so they could turn SC3K into an electronic version of the game ... and maybe you will have problems with some of the others, but given how old these files are its amazing that any of them are still OK.

For now then I'm just sorting them into Good and Recalcitrant files and uploading the ones which play nice with GoG. Later I will install my old, plain disc version of the game and try those others with that older dll and see what happens.

Hey, I know this is an old topic, but after looking for "sc3kaddonplug-in.exe" on many sites - SimCity "webarchive" did not help - I found the original installation file on a Polish site.

    http://chomikuj.pl/michalszasz12/sc3kaddonplug-in,1309083077.exe

It worked fine here, no error messages after setup. I have the original CD version (sc3k and classics), not gog / unlimited. I do not really know what "SC3_Plug-In_1.Exe" is for, but it came with the original reference package that I downloaded here on another topic. I installed all packages anyway.

I figured the problem of the DLL error message was something related to the version of the file, and I noticed that the "sc3kaddonplug-in.exe" of the original site had 650KB, and the file "SC3_Plug-In_1.Exe" has more than 900 ... so since I have the original version of the game, I figured it would be better to try to find the smaller installer. Maybe I am wrong, and there is no relationship between the two, just know that I initially ran the game smoothly when installing a new building just with "sc3kaddonplug-in.exe".

Anyway, I hope it helps other people who want to play the original sc3k again !!!!

    update:
1 - I finally found a working mirror for downloads on wayback machine and it hosts all original landmarks for sc3000 and the plugin: http://web.archive.org/web/20010616034855/http://SimCity.ea.com:80/us/simexchange/downloads/sc3k/index.phtml
    2 - Now I see the difference between "sc3kaddonplug-in.exe" and "sc3_plugin_1.exe", I didn't pay enough attention. :D
