thats looking like a great little airport there. it seems youre doing well on your own.

try searching the stex for airport and you'll find some addtions you may not have such as the SWAP pack (although it is a little tempremental with some.. im using it and its fine) that will add variety. to enhance your runways try also searching for runway on the stex and you'll get a great set by voltaire. finally, if you want a realistic looking airport then maybe try donwloading google earth (if you have broadband that is) because it has many of the greatest airports on the world there, through its satelite imaging. i use it all the time to draw inspiration from.

sorry for a very non desciptive post - its 1.30am here so im a bit tired and i need some sleep. i wish i had the time to grab you the links =/ . sorry to be a pain, but there is a thread titled show us your aiport in this section of simtopolis that would have been a more appropriate place for this =)

hope that gets you started. im sure somone can fill in the cracks 2.gif

Nice, did you build that yourself?

And might try a small parking garage becuase they require less space.... just my imput1.gif

44.gifperfect, but maybe you should add one of the international terminals and a police kiosk and small fire department, also make more runways and more parking garages.49.gif

The easiest way I've found to build good-looking airports in SC4 is to use photos and diagrams of real airports as a guide:

In no way should I talk because I cannot make an airport of my own, I must say that you are trying your very best to amke a very good airport, and I respect that, but you should try to use our services; your airport will be transformed!

    Just My Input.

Actually I think that's looking quite nice... 1.gif You could maybe add some more taxiways, though, and it isn't too realistic to have hangars / other parking spots like that right next to their 'private' tarmac. Besides, your airport isn't all that large, so you might consider removing a few of them and replacing them with some other facilities, such as a fuel depot and fire station. And add some car parking and/or public transit; people don't generally like walking to an airport... Overall it's nice, especially if it's  your first one. Then, I think I'll have to strongly disagree with Bodom about crossing runways being unrealistic:
    Chicago O'Hare
    New York JFK
    London Heathrow
    Madrid Barajas
All are major international airports, and have some sort of crossing runways. It might not be the most effective way of building airports, but it is definitely realistic!

Yes you are right but when most of those airport's were built it was viable to have two crossing over runways both operating at the same time but with the growth with larger ansd faster aircraft this is no longer viable. The current third runway at Heathrow is currentley unusuable and when BAA redevelop Terminals 1, 2 and 3 eventually that runway will disappear from existance.

I would also add a fourth runway inbetween the top ones,
    1. smaller taxiways
    2. more realistic

Keep in mind that he wanted a pleasing airport, not necessarily a realistic one.

i think crossing runways is fine.  At Lambert St. Louis International Airport at least two of our runways cross our other ones and we use them all the time, with no problems, also great airport.

Your airport is really nice! You might want to put in some parking areas. I think your airport would look better if you had some oneway roads making a loop around the front of the airport like at most major international airports and such, but that's just me.

The only thing I find wrong with your airport is I believe there should be more taxiways to certain parts of each runway. Otherwise its a very quaint little airport, good job!48.gif

Not that uncommon in real airports.  Louisville327 just posted a picture of one.  I live 5 miles from another one. 10.gif

The main reason to have multiple landing strips and runways going in different directions is so that aircraft can pick and choose based on wind direction--it is advantageous to take off into the wind and land with the wind.

I think the airport design looks good. It would probably be even better if the crossing runways did not cross at a 90-degree angle.

Pretty good, though I would use flyover ramps and freeways to make it a little more realistic and pleasing.
