    Welcome to page 4!

Now to respond to some comments:

Sc4_cewl:The downtown is probably going to be another area to be redone in the close future, and I am attempting to be making more pockets of highrises in the suburbs (out of the historic downtown), the one by the quay will be lowered in density as well; but for the better I am sure.
juantrev:The dirt road mod can be found HERE . Here are some monorail stations, including the one you wanted: HERE
    simmax:Merci beaucoup pour le commentaire 48.gif Encore, j'essaie d'am

Well, I have been not as busy, even though I should have much more than I have, I am off on Mid-Winter break right now...
I have good enough news, I only lost cities that I was planning on restarting anyways. As well, I now have 1,00 Go of RAM, and a new diskdrive. Errgh, using that 15 Go diskdrive was enough trouble for me.
That aside, I think that I owe you a preview of the minimal, but still progress, made on my region.

    Here they are:

Holy Crap! I've never seen farms done like that! That is beautiful. I love how you didn't make it a checkerboard, but instead more of a patchwork effect. Transportation is a nice change from grids as well out in the country, very cool.44.gif

Also I don't know if you did this on purpose but in the transportation screen, the farms resemble a cat, eyes and mouth are green, body is the farm colour, and theres even claws as being the cliffs by the water.

Okay, I just fixed one image up top, and now to respond to the comments:

    oroen:Thank-you for the support.
ThePeoplesPerson:Nice to see some new faces around here! lol, I really didn't intend for the farms to look like a cat, that's pure coincidence. funny how close it resembles one though, maybe I should look at my images before posting them, it would be a good habit; except, I am just too lazy...
    EDIT: I missed one...
bobinator:The gold course is nowhere near done, because after I finish my suburbs around one half of it, it will have an entirely new look; for the better I hope. Thanks.

Keep the comments comming, any critism, constructive please, is gladly accepted 1.gif

    Thank-you for the comment, timo.
Well, here is a, still uncomplete, but an update, nonetheless.

A shot of what I consider to be an American-styled suburban city-centre

    16ib.jpg

    Some poor-quality shots next

    23kj.jpg

    33qn.jpg

    42wj.jpg

I am very sorry for the poor quality, but these are around 6 month-old pictures! I don't have many newer, and my plugins are stripped, so I can not open older cities for a while yet...
But, I am working on a completely new soon-to-be metropolis, still unnamed. I am looking for some ideas for the name of the city, and 'runners-up' will be used for areas inside the city itself, so your suggestion, if the lest amount good, will be used.
I will try and get some shots of what the transportation network looks like, but I am trying to make this city 'evolve', while not making it and leaving it there.

I have a four-day weekend, as of Easter, so I *should* have some time to play SimCity soon enough...

This CJ is great! It has a very realistic feel to it and the regional satellite views look more like real pictures than SC4 screenshots. The differntly shaped farms look great being that this is a hilly region with a varied terrain. The picture of the city center in the latest update is amazing. That city center definately reminds me of a lot of the downtowns of cities here in the U.S.

Great job, keep up the good work. 10.gif

    EDIT:
Thanks for the comment, comdude21, I appreciate it.
    END EDIT

Well, I guess that I better tell you all that I basicly erased this region, and I am working on a new region, VERY loosely based on this one, but it will have much more realistic terrain and layouts, unlike the original Arville. It will still be a mostly European-styled city, old town centre, with some new-style cities, maybe with a Qu

I'm looking forward to your next region! Arville was so nice, sigh. I suppose you'd like a French name so I'm not much help for that. Hopefully someone will have some better suggestions? 37.gif

Hmm... to respond to the comments:

mayormommy:Thanks for the comment, thanks for reading, and any name would be fine, whatever you suggest is fine, like I am maybe going to use Eddenborough, (which not French at all,) and/or some variations for the main city's outskirts...
sloppet:Thanks for the nice comment, I guess that you didn't read my last post, but I don't blame you, I wouldn't either 18.gif

Here is the landscape of a city that I am planning in the north, pretty far away from the main city.

    northerncitycentre3yw.gif width=800 alt=

I am maybe thinking of building a modern-styled city here, comments are welcomed. I am restarting the transit for this city, suggestions on how to change/better the terraforming is welcomed too.
I am still looking for name suggestions, for a possible name for the country/region at large is Azureilles, are there any comments on this name?

Thanks for the comment, frogface, it is maybe a surprise to you, but you were the inspiration for my extentric-like (thus realistic 3.gif) road layouts, from your Dorbuk region... sad that it's no longer updated...

Is there any interest in me making a new region? It seems as though nobody has viewed the thread, or that people don't want me to attempt a new CJ.
Comment and express your views, check the thread a few posts above...

I hope that there is enough interest in this; and I may get time to post a few more teaser shots, despite the fact that I havn't been able to play SC4 much -- my free time is too limited, and I'm already falling behind in school... 30.gif

Well, Edinburgh, Scotland is one of my favorite places so that name sounds good to me. One of the things I liked about Edinburgh was the bluffs above the city where you could look down on the castle and straight down Prince's Street. And Azureilles sounds like a good region name. Good luck! 2.gif

NO Keep this CJ alive!! And keep it French I think thats very very nice, I like the way you make it more European with a historic city centre without any highrise. And I was wondering is Arville located in the real world and is it a nation?

Hmm... I'm back, to respond to the comments:

mayormommy:Well, if it's your favourite places, why not name your favourite place in 'Auzureilles' after it? Hmm... making a castle on a bluff... hmm... *starts thinking...*
sloppet:Yeah, I think that I will add more hill on where I plan to be more rural-esque in that area (it is roughly 6 large tiles). Thanks, I'll post a shot when I get to play SC4 again...
petriknl:Firstly: thanks for the support, but my old region was (is) very unrealistic, in the regional views, etc., so I am restarting my region, but it will be based on the same idea as Arville. If it's not as good, I give you permission to... umm... complain 3.gif
Arville is really a mix of European (France, in perticular) layouts, for the most part, with Cando-influences (Canadian influences,) so it *somewhat* exists in real life, and my new region will follow the same basic city-design formula. I will attempt a Paris look-alike (the main city); also some more modern cities, resort/historic small villages, and more is planned!

Thank you to everyone who commented!

Here is a teaser of La D

You achieved a great deal of realism and creative layout with the original region. I'm quite looking forward to more excellent design from you with the new region. 44.gif

Since the Scottish pronounce Edinburgh as Eddenborough, I thought you already had a town with that name. 2.gif Anyway, here's the castle.

oroen:Thanks, I'm hoping to make some progress on the new region soon, and have my journal up soon enough...
MayorTim:I wouldn't say Best - farmland - ever, maybe some of the best... Thanks a lot for the comment!
mayormommy:Hmm... I never knew the Scottish had such bad pronounciation 3.gif (just kidding!) Thanks for the shot of the castle, I could *try* to make something somewhat similar to that in the game...

I finally had time to play SC4 today, for the first time in a little while, a few days, and I should have time this week-end because of crummy weather... I can't bike 15km into town when it's... snowing!

Hmm... I hope that I will be able to get everyone's opinion on this:

Should I be using cycledog's MODs, or my previous configuration? Should I use a different combination?

Here is a shot with cycledog's MODs

    withmod1hd.jpg alt=Image Hosted by Image

Here is a shot without his MODs

    without2dq.jpg alt=Image Hosted by Image

Please voice your comments, on how to improve the look of my terrain, etc.
Feel free to ask for close-ups, if you wish, looking at these again the differences are minute...
