Hello, the name is Mark.

I'm trying to reinstall my Sim City 4 ED game to my desktop but while the loading screen with the slide show of city images its stopping at about 8:26  and saying it wasn't able to transfer Radio/Stations/Mayor/Sc4m12mp3 files thus wont keep downloading.

Can anyone help me with this issue.

Usually this is a sign that the disk can't be read correctly.

Either that's because the disk is stretched/damaged or the drive you are using is at fault. In the first instance, try cleaning the disk and checking it for marks. It is possible to repair damaged disks, I wouldn't bother though, a digital version is $5 in a sale, a much better investment in this case.

Optical drives can suffer from problems when the laser gets dirty/worn. You may find that cleaning the lens helps, whilst specific kits exist for this, a tiny bit of Vodka on a cotton bud is a great solution too (take care, remember water/electricity don't mix - give it time to dry before testing).

Bear in mind however, if you do get the disk to install, if you are running an updated version of Windows from Vista through to 10, once installed the game will fail to launch thereafter. See here for more details on that:

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

If the installer itself was having troubles running, such as a lock-up or crash, it wouldn't spew out an error message.

You could try disabling any background applications whilst installing SC4, anti-virus and other file scanning apps might be blocking the files from installing. This is clutching at straws though, because I can't see why the other files up to this point wouldn't have an issue, but this one mp3 file did.

But if the disk is damaged or the laser in your optical drive can't read it, the fix is to replace the faulty item. If other disks are being read correctly, it would point towards the disk being the problem. If you are getting similar problems with other disks, it might mean the laser in the drive has gone.

My advice, replace the disks with a digital re-release, ideally DRM free (my preference). Or in the event the problem points towards the drive, consider replacing it, a DVD writer can be less than £20 these days, they do die sometimes. It's a bit more costly if it's BluRay though.
