New Mac User - Mods and user created content

I have recently installed SC via the app store and am attempting to add custom content however I am struggling to find NAM, terrain mods etc. that are workable with my system. I have read up about file juicer and have searched for the Mac installer versions of some of these mods and I either find outdated links or installers that don't work. Can anyone offer any advice? I am on a Mac Book Pro running OS X Yosemite.

There is a Mac version of the NAM over on the LEX; although it is bundled with CAM.

However, you are right, there are few types of mods that usually come in .exe files, which don't work with Mac. Some buildings come in installers, but it is usually terrain mods, dependency packages and large, intricate mods, like the NAM, that come in installers.

You can use File Jucier, although I don't think this preserves the file structure, which is needed for some complex mods. 

So what I recommend is if you have access to a Windows Machine, is to download the files there, install them and then transfer them bak over to the Mac plugin folder. Although tedious, it provides the best solution in my eyes.

 

I used to use the SC4 App store version, but beware, it doesn't have highlighting, nor the latest fixes, and I think there is still the bug which limits the size of the plugin folder, although that may have been fixed. So what I did, although quite costly, is to install Windows on my Mac, using Parallels. This allows me to continue to use my Mac, but then quickly lunch Windows and jump into SC4. But this compromise may not be for everyone, just a suggestion.
