I get really mad when I make a nice looking city but I don't save it and the stupid game crashes I don't know why but in the recent days my game started doing this

Is there a softaware or or something else that can fix it

(My other games don't do this)
Please Help Me

what items have you downloaded from the STEX recently? its probably a compatibility problem between plugins.

There is nothing that stops that from happening.  The bigger, and more developed a city gets, the more memory it uses.  When the memory gets full, then any additional data the game tries to put into memory makes the game crash.  The only thing to do is save often.

Now I'm not sure how computer savy you are but the thing I do to prevent crashing is pretty easy. Proceed at your own caution. Everytime prior to launching the game I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then go to the processes tab. I then end task to all the useless background tasks that are running. Make sure you only end task to unimportant ones.

I have also found that my game crashes when I try to do too much too fast.  If I do my mouse clicks too fast without letting the game catch its breath, it will crash.  I find that it is a good idea to save your city often, especially before you make a big change or place a reward.

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older.  Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."

I agree with everything 38422 says. 10.gif

Seriously, listen to Tungston and save, save, save.  I have 2 gigs of ram and my game still crashes occasionally but not as often as when I had 1 gig.  There is nothing more frustrating that spending an hour building something and then the game crashes and you've just wasted an hour of your time.

Umm...38422 didn't say anything...that is unless he came back and removed what he wrote...47.gif

Anyway, unless you're running photoshop, half life 2 and defragmenting your HD in the background, background tasks and applications really don't affect game performance that much.

Really, the only way to 'prevent' these crashes (apart from if you have a compatibility problem) is to save regularly. While it won't 'prevent' crashes per se, it will mitigate the pain that results when you see 3 hours of work down the drain. 19.gif

i'm also having crash problems, but my game crashes when i'm zooming from zoom 2(2nd most out) to zoom 3 or from zoom 4(3rd most near) to zoom 3.

I started a new city and laid out roads and rail without problems with zoom, but than when my zones started growing the zoom problem started so i'm wondering if anyone has any tips on what is wrong and if there is any solution to this problem.

I've about 4GB ram and a 3Ghz Pentium 4 prosessor and plenty of HD space.

Zooming is the same thing as the other things that go into memory.  To zoom the game will load the next images into memory.  That over flows the memory and causes the CTD.

So the only solution is to save often and before zooming.

Right above my last post was a blank one from 38422.  Just a poor attempt at humor on my part.10.gif

Yet again, i am bewildered by the fact that i have been playing SC4 and RH since their releases, alot, and i have not had a single crash or problem, ever. Not one.

Well... actually, the power went out while i was saving one day.. and i lost the city, but thats an 'acts of nature' thing lol.

On topic - video card drivers.. UPDATE THEM!

I haven't crashed since I got rid of most of the BATs in my plugin folder. They seem to cause most of the problems. But it's definitely bugs in the overall game, as

low memory + lots of plugins = game instability

If you have a gig of RAM, and don't use too many BATs, the game should run very stable. So if you're having crash problems, try cleaning out your plugin folder.

I played yesterday and the zoom worked as normal again(though this time i waited a few seconds betwean each zoom, to let the game update itself to the new zoom), and as a precaution i'm saving a lot more than i used to do.
