Extrusion distortion?

I've embarked on "Secret 2016 BAT Project #2" (I'm not going to release specifics since I don't want to overpromote and in a very early stage right now) and am working with some height plans published in relation to a renovation of the building, as well as Google Earth screenshots. The facade of the building is a mostly flat front with an imposing facade and breezeway jutting out of the front of it. The size of this facade is proportional X-Y to the front of the building, but when it came time to extrude it to 20' (and my measurements have been accurate and worked so far), it just looked wrong in the perspective. From the top & left, it looked fine but from the perspective, the thing seemed huge. I know you need to multiply height by 1.3, but is there any known scaling issues with working outward?

The only thing I can think of is that the building was made of seperate object which weren't scaled up by 1.33 along the Z axis in total but individually. Meaning that if windows, roff or props are seperated from the main object and are scaled among the local Z axis this can cause a giant mess. You can simply check that by group all seperate object and scale the group along the Z axis.

Somtimes, your eye can easily be fooled though. If it still doesn't help and you don't want to show your BAT to the public, feel free to send me a pricate message, I'll take a look at it.

It is hard to say without a picture. Your are using the Gmax? Well, the GMAX's perspective view is bit "wonky". It does distort the textures and if you are not used to it, it may look odd.

I always add that 1.33 to height at least. When the whole building is ready. I makes the modelling easier for as I see real life proportions which I am used to. Especially if you have textured your model. 1.33 of course srteches the textures too, which can make the base image to look weird.

As far as I know there is no inherited scaling issues in GMAX. Or in 3DS Max.
