NAM 34 cannot find installation folder

Hi, everyone.

I've been away from Sim City for a long time, but decided to come back on my new Mac. I remember NAM really improving game play, so I downloaded the latest, but the installer asks me if I am installing the NAM to port to a Mac (I answer no, correct?) and then tells me:

"The installer cannot find the Sim City installation folder on your system"

A dialogue box opens to allow me to find the folder, but none of my selections seem to work. I have tried both the "Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition.app" in my app folder and the "SimCity 4" folder in my Documents folder, as well as several sub-folders in each. None works. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Sim City and NAM a couple of times.

Thoughts?

Are you using the special Mac version of the NAM? The windows one will not work under Mac OS.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Yeah, that's where I got it. That being said, when I select a folder from the dialogue box, I'm told that SimCity4.exe cannot be found, and earlier in the process I'm asked if I am installing the NAM for port over to a Mac. I was a little confused by those things.

I'm not really familiar with the Mac installer. So beyond checking you are using the correct one, I can't really help you.

In fact the NAM team is so devoid of Mac owners, the current release is down to the efforts of Miro90 to create a wrapper for it. As such you'd probably have more success over on the official Mac support thread on SC4D.

Port 0036, are you using the bundle created by Mero90? You'll know it for the icons of both CAM and NAM in the photo.

If so, when asked if you are porting for mac, select yes. The Windows executable is being run in a wineskin wrapper. Contact Mero90 over at SC4Devotion for more technical advice on the use of wineskin wrappers, the CAM/NAM bundle specifically. He built this package specifically for NAM 34 installation and my CAM installation on OSX.

A Nonny Moose may be able to help, but not sure if he has run this package yet. I know his knowledge of Wine (possibly wineskin wrappers) is quite extensive.

Thanks, everyone. I am using Mero90's bundle. I'll look into wineskin wrappers and if I can't figure it out I'll head over.

Here is a quote from the Mac support thread by Mero90,

" Depending on your security settings, you may not be able to open any installer by double click. If happens just right click on "Install NAM 34" and select "open".
Don't worry if it takes a while to launch the first time. "

This may be the whole problem. I tried it in a virtual machine running Yosemite and did not have this problem, so try this method and it may help.
