I am dedicating this to those who were lost in the hurricane. This is the first of two buildings, and an underground parking garage. There will be a hellipad on top of this building as well. Later I will also turn my RLM Productions HQ into a hospital, but I wanted to do this one first.

    The front Bridge leads to the parking garage (most of which will be under ground). The Side Bridge leads to a second building. I will be modeling them next.

    Looks great so far...I especially like the gravel texture on the roofs. Are you going to transit-enable the lot and parking garage?

    I still need to texture the garage, but it is getting close to being done.

    Excellent, RebaLynn!

    I do have a suggestion though. How large is that helipad? I ask because there doesn't seem to be enough clearance between it and the elevator shed next to it for the copter blades.

    It's 10m x 12m, bigger than the real thing, a lot bigger. But if I made it 4m x 4m (like the real ones I've seen) it just looks too small on the model. Sometimes you have to exagerate things for them to seem more real .. go figure.

    I also just realized, I need to redesign it a bit, no way are they going to want to haul patients on streachers down stairs.

    I could use some suggentions on properties for this new Bat/Lot.

    Here is the latest pic.

    Your modelling skills are impressive, but I'd like to offer a couple of tips that I think would make this BAT even better. My main pet peeve is bland textures on great models-- the textures you've used here have a very obvious tiling pattern to them; this takes away from the credibility of the lot since texturing isn't apparent on the original Maxis buildings. Using a larger base pattern will reduce evidence of tiling, but moreover, this can be improved by customizing textures. For example, the roof texture could use some dirt or variations in intensity around the edges and large scale contrasts so that it doesn't look quite so uniform and perfect -- it is supposed to be gravel afterall! The only other thing I would say, which is a general comment to all BATers: you can never add too much detail. Large unbroken splines tend to give a BAT a sort of Lego-ish blocky appearance. If you include lots of small details, at the threshold of the BATs rendering resolution, then it gives the impression that there's more there than meets the eye. For a start however, this is a great model and project!

    This BAT has great 'bones' but I agree it could do with some better textures and some weathering to bump it up to the next level.

    Suburbanite and jt_144_2004 - Thank you for your comments, rest assured I take them to heart. I am not as good at working with textures as I'd like to be, but that just means I need to practice. I did make the texture for the parking garage from scratch, so I see no reason I can't do the others.

    I've decided to work a bit more on the textures, at least the biggest ones, and will take a few days longer to post this, but it is coming along nicely.

    Here is a new pic showing the new texture on the main building roof.

    You are getting better and better - remember that even with a simple model, correct textures make it shine!

    Well, I've worked enough on this one for now...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Trauma%20Center%20v9.jpg align=baseline>
    I'm going to fix up the lot, and finish some other details, then post it. I'll revisit it another time, and improve on it, then update it.
