Can't install NAM 32 or 33

Hey everyone, I'm trying to install NAM as the title suggests. I have the original rush hour disks and have performed the Maxis update to 1.638. The update went through with no errors, but I notice that simcity_5.dat did not update. The other dat files and the application did update.

When I try to install NAM, I get the error message that the game needs to be updated to the current version. I'm on windows 7. Any ideas?

I'd advise reinstalling the patch, but trying a different SKU version of it.  If you install the wrong SKU, it'll act kind of like it has updated properly, but it really hasn't.  I'd also check over the release notes for the patch--it gives off file sizes (in bytes) for properly patched files.  Also, if you have a legitimate copy, but stuck a No CD executable in there after the fact, the NAM installer won't run.

Another thought--is the installer actually shutting you out completely, or is it mentioning something about the 1.1.640 patch?  If it's the latter, then that's just a friendly reminder, since 1.1.640 allows custom buildings to have proper nightlights.
