Diagonal Bridge Still Goes Downhill!!!

Hi, I've posted on this before but this time I brought pictures. I am building some diagonal bridges both roads and one ways.

What keeps happening is rather than going straight across the river, the bridges run downhill to the other side, and then you have to squish the landscape to come back up the hill. I watched the youtube video a thousand times. I don't think its supposed to do this. I  have a slope mod installed, the 'don't create bumps when you make a bridge' mod. I am playing Sim City 4 Rush Hour on Windows XP.

The video says you just drag straight across, then click a starter piece on the bridge and BLAMMO, you have a diagonal bridge. My bridge starter pieces say they can't be plopped there, and refuse to be plopped. They will plop on the inland areas just fine, creating a diagonal flat piece of road.

The elevations are slightly lower than 1 'raise all the land up' click high.

Am I doing something wrong?

My guess is you need to put some more work into terraforming the area when the start/end of the bridge will be before installing the DBE and making the bridge itself. In essence those parts really should be completely flat and level for a couple tiles at least. Trying to build on such terrain will never give you great results and puzzle pieces (like the bridge starters) will not place unless it's possible to change the terrain to flatten the area covered by the piece.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Yes, this is a matter of a little more civil engineering.  Any respectable railroad company would have seen to it.

I worked on this for several hours, and then even making a separate tile donut/volcano, but nothing worked. I made a crisp cliff on both sides, and still, no results. Every time, the bridge "swoops" across. Do you have any examples of successful diagonal bridges you've made? Maybe I can get it to work if I copy something, and then go from there.

Here is an example where I've placed two DBE's close together, notice how for all the starting/end points the land is completely flat. You only need to do this for the approaches, afterwards you can have gradients, but I'd flatten a suitable area for working before you start, you can always (carefully) put the hill back.

If you have Buggi's Extra Cheats.dll installed, you can also use the developer mode "Terrain Query", when activated clicking on the "?" in-game and hovering over the terrain will show you the callout in the blue box. Note here the y value of 270.1 (y is the height of the terrain), all the bridge supports in the red boxes are at the exact same height level, 270.1 too. If these are even slightly off, the DBE probably won't work correctly.

A good tip is to create a land bridge (Using the level brush) over the water to ensure both sides are the same height, then you can restore the water once more before building the bridge. In the example here I would have used a few rail stubs to ensure the bridge supports would be the right height too.

Once everything is prepped, restart with the DBE plugin installed and drag your road then from one levelled edge across to the other. If you notice a slight difference in elevation at this point, you can make small adjustments by plopping street stubs (must be street, since DBE won't terraform with Road, Rail, RHW etc) next to the tiles where the bridge support will be.

One last observation, DBE should not allow any slope for road whatsoever, make absolutely sure you are not running any slope mods at the same time as the DBE.
