If you want to make models for SC4, you must use the SC4 BAT tool (which relies upon gMax to work) to export the final render in a format the game is able to interpret. It's possible to use an alternative modelling program, but you will ultimately need to be able to export that model file into SC4 BAT in order to render it, so it must be able to save in a compatible format.

gMax is still available on the original website, I suggest you have not been searching for it very hard, you can download it from the first hit of a google search for 'gMax'.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

If you are looking for a region creation tool, there are several.  I use the by Greyveil.  It is not for the faint of heart and requires a really good graphics editor (I use the GIMP) to manipulate the generated map if you want to do much with it.

For people wanting something easier, you might look for the SC4Terraformer and/or the SC4Mapper.

However, I do recommend a walk through the mapping room forum for some good general information on making your own maps.  There are some technical points that need to be understood.
