I need a little help with modding

Hi all,

Been many years since I've modded this game and have forgotten most everything I ever did. LOL
OK, here goes. I want to change the stats of one of my lots/mods. How do I go about this task?

Thanks a bunch in advance,

Rick

Really depends on what stat you wish to change. By and large SC4 Tools provides a pretty simple User Interface and you can edit a number of the most common properties easily. However, the reader is a must for those wanting total control, however it does have a steeper learning curve and requires a certain understanding to get the most out of it.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I always use Reader, unless I want to modify a lot to make it transit enabled.. in that case I use SC4 Tools... what exactly do you want to change?

I have a water treatment and air purification lot that I want to increase the radius it treats and lower the monthly cost.

    I have iLive Reader installed.
I have the Lot Editor installed. (LE)
I have Gmax installed but I don't have a code for it so it won't fire up.
I have the BAT but it refuses to install. It says I don't have SC4 installed which is false. I do have SC4 Deluxe installed, v1.1.640.
I don't know what or where the Plugin Manager is.

Gmax codes require e-mail registration at the site you downloaded it from.

SC4BAT sometimes won't install if you didn't install SC4 to the default install location, if this is not the case a quick search (google, I give up on the Stex one) will find a solution.

Plugin Manager is installed with the LE and SC4, so you do have it.

You'll probably need to edit the radius in the reader, but it's not as simple as just saying I want it bigger, you need to understand how it works in relation to the game in addition to using a setting that doesn't break your game. If this is your first modding attempt, take it easy and do some research first, in any case always modify a copy of a given file, that way you can easily correct any mistakes by replacing the old files.

I don't ever plan to use Gmax for anything so having it installed was just a requirement as I understand it. So I did that.
And, yes, my SC4 is installed on another drive.
Well, it looks like the Reader is my only out. I'll try to find tutorial docs on it, I guess.

Hmm, I wonder if I could get somebody around here to make the adjustment for me?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Not so, Gmax is actually the application you use to create SC4 models, SC4BAT is nothing more than a set of scripts for Gmax that ensures the files it outputs will display correctly in-game. If you don't register Gmax, I'm pretty sure you won't get SC4BAT to work. Before you look at other solutions, get Gmax registered, if it still won't install SC4BAT, then find one of the tutorials, you'll probably need to edit something in the registry so the SC4BAT installer can find the SC4 files and verify their existence.
