Diagonal Edges Mod

Hello All,

I just downloaded the Diagonal Edges mod and am currently using the Appalacian terrain mod as well.  I couldn't seem to get the Diagonal Edges mod to work. After reading the directions more thoroughly, I noticed that there is a link to a support thread.  The support thread doesn't appear to be active.  Can someone direct me to where I can find the necessary file to make this work with the Appalacian terrain?

Thanks!

Johnny

The DJE mod uses the same file as a terrain mod.  App terrain should include the fix as SimCoug said.  If not it's just one number you can change to make the same adjustment as the DJE mod.

Have a look here, its the best explanation of everything to do with terrain settings I've ever come across, if you can make a few edits in the reader you can tweak these settings to your liking quite easily.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

This is slightly O/T, but I used to read something about a setting that would make roads drawn alongside sloped tiles look different. By default, you mostly get a massive sub-construction when you do that. However, the game apprenty also contains different models, and if the corresponding parameter is tweaked to the right setting, the road will have concrete pillars under it. It's kinda hard to describe. :lost: I wish I remembered that one. :(

Thanks for the input.  I just read the information about the reader provided in the link by rsc204 and think I will give this a try.  The one thing I am concerned about is that it sounds like once you change the MaxNormalYforCliff it will affect already existing landscape.  I really don't want to change the whole landscape, just the areas that I am working on.  I have been building a 7.5m trench for rail and the frustrating thing is that with the diagonal trenches, I have inconsistent results.  Sometimes I will get jagged edges and sometimes not.

    Thanks again.

The tutorial alludes to this, in effect it's one setting so if you adjust it to make your terrain look optimal, you loose the effects of the DJE, to get 7.5m diagonals to look right will mess more with your terrain than setting it for 15m so somewhere you may have to make a trade off. You could make a copy of the terrain controller file, give it the 7.5m DJE settings and switch between the two files for screenshots as a workaround.
