I really like your industrial area you showed us especially that massive freight station. Could you show us what industrial district the freight trains lead to?

    To all:
    Oh, thanks for the comments, friends! :} I really like to see more comments from the same people, that's just great.

    To GingerBlokey: Oh, that's a compliment. ***blush*** 21.gif

    To Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya: It's currently in progress. I can say that it will have lower building dencity with more recreational areas. There will be two communities, each community will have a school, and library. Also there will be a hospital especially for these communities.
    At this time i'm trying to find out better bus routes for this area and improve the road system.

    To Exgamer07: Oh, if i undersood your question, industrial district, that serves by this freight railyard is not even planned. Just look at this:

    picture is no longer aviable;

    It's all i have at this time it Eladremme. In the future, massive industrial district will be situated in the north of the region, and Etsaw P.U.O. District will be only a small part of it.

    To Newy2: Thanks man :} I'm glad that you've noticed custom busstops, I love them too :}
    I hope that next update will be in the next weekend :}

    Oh, i've decide to post another update tonight, cause i can't wait to show you, friends, some more city planning ideas. may be you'll find it intresting. So..

    Happiness is possible in Etsaw.

    Now Etsaw Power and Utilization Organ District have some place for successful sims, who works on their hi-thech and manufacturing factories.
    A medium wealth community is almost finished at the north of the residential shore. The name of community is a Curve Park in view of its unusual recreational areas.
    Curve Park community has improved layout and municipal service infrastructure.

    Ah, yes...there is a bright side! The curve parks are really original in the journals. It also seems very Danish-like...except there'd be homes within the circles. I like your idea a lot!!

    I'm intrigued by your very open planning, i.e. 80-90% of ground space being parks... this seems like the ideal radiant garden city design. However, I think in reality, you would find that a city like this would not be very happy at all. Large open expanses of parks can never be fully used all the time and as such tend to become dangerous, dead, public spaces. I'm no expert in urban planning---but I happen to be reading Jane Jacob's classic book The Life and Death of Great American Cities right now (she largely condemns the garden city mentality). It's a great book if you're interested in the topic.

    Very cool transportation networks! In the 4th picture of the last update, how did you make the two roads directly beside each other at different levels, with a retaining wall in the middle? That's really neat. I really like the circular gardens, but I think they take up a bit too much space... along with all the other parks in the area.

    To All: Thanks for such intresting comments, people! :}

    To Threeswept: Thanks. I didn't know that such park type looks like danish :}
    I should use this idea in the future city planning in this region :}

    To 6459978.: I agree with your position, but let me tell you something. I don't like to fill every tile with a building. I find it really really ugly. I'm not a big fan of realism in SC4, but i'm mad about aesthetics factor in all SC4 aspects. So, i love to put into my cities large open grass areas, parks, trees. It looks nice for me. Furthermore, i always remeber that one SC4 tile is about 16x16 meters, so 10 tiles in a row, it's only 160 meters. In this case, all those open areas in Curve Park Community are not so big :}
    And by the way. I can't imagine a fully used park 21.gif No place for just relax in the silence, mad kids, rollers, lovers every where? No way! 20.gif I rather go to the really large lonely park where i can enjoy the birds pipe :} But yes, not at night huh :}

    To the Monkeys Uncle: Oh, it's created using a 1x13 transport enabled one way lot :}
    And concerning circular gardens, yes, they are not small, but hey, look at the regional pic. Eladremme is huge. I want to have variations in city planning in this region. The main idea of this CJ is to create a beautiful and well planned region, not to reach as maximum population as possible.

    To Tunafish: Oh, i don't think it's good idea :} This 1x13 lot is more eye candy, than functional. It has some ugly issues about commuter time, paths and so.. There is a kinda stuff that will never be shared with the community, and i think it's right. Lot Editor and other tools was created not only for sharing new lots and stuff with Simtropoleans 1.gif

    To Poiuy1208: Thankie :}

    To Superstar: Thanks for you too :}

    To ChicAgo333: Thanks a lot :} I love to improve my pics a little bit. Sharpness makes a lot of details become more noticeable :}

    That's an excellent point about the scale. There's a tendency when building your city to underscale things like parks. In reality a seriously large park like Regents Park or Hyde Park in London would fill a medium city square.

    The other point about parks is that although it is correct to say that they have problems, that is a result of the nasty violent society we have constructed for ourselves rather than a problem with large parks themselves.

    So I guess what I'm saying is that I think Curve Park looks great and that in the nicer world that we can imagine for the location of our Sim cities, it's just a beautiful, large green space to bring a little nature in to the city centre.

    It one of your earlier post you showed some Fraight warehouses. Are these avalable anywhere. They look great and I have been looking for some for the Port areas in my CJ. If they are your own is there any plans on releasing them.?
    And on anouther note. Great looking CJ. Your attention to detail is great. I love the look of those parks. Keep up the wonderful work. I was wondering if in a futur update you could include a region tranit map?

    Your freedom is the most expensive thing you have, even if you arn't the one that paid for it... Use it well.

    It's an interesting idea...and, I'm sure may have been done in other countries. Imagine a crop circle or a pie with a road leading into the centre. The homes are located near the centre where the road forms a traffic circle or cul-de-sac. The lawns take up the rest of the space behind the house. The idea is to make the community more involved and not so reclusive as can happen in large cities. Yet, one has all this private green space behind the house and also around the housing development. Good luck!

    To all: Thank you all for your comments, guys. It's really appreciated.

    To Bourneid: Well, actually no. I don't think it's really needed to upload those ware houses on the STEX. And my point is that everyone who have a Lot Editor can do this, because i did'n use any custom BAT in making these lots.
    May be someday i will create a custom BAT for it and then.. who knows :}

    To Threeswept: It would be  really intresting to try out. I should find a proper place for this in Eladremme :}

    So, finnaly, here is another update:

    Mondo Burger vs. Shorty Burger.

    etsaw_p_p001.jpg

    During tens of years, Mondo burger was the one and only known fast food in Etsaw. At the very beginning Mondo Burger chain had only one joint at the Der Cuubeness Community, but after few years, they have open new one in industrial area, so workers could have a perfect lunch in their favourite burger.

    By the time of opening a new kitchy Shorty Burger, Mondo Burger chain has three joints in Etsaw.
    At the first time, Shorty Burger wasn't in good demand. But after few months of promotion, Shorty burger hits really impressive popularity. Now, Mondo Burger has a serious rival. In undertime, Shorty Burger opens two new restaurants in the industrial area...
    Now, the people of Etsaw is divisible by two parts. The Shortys - fans of the Shorty Burger, and the Mondoes - fans of the Mondo Burger.
    Etsaw police department says that there is no danger of any clash between these two groups, but we must be very careful.

    chap009_008.jpg

    chap009_007.jpg

    Also, we have a Lorem Ipsum Chapel reconstructed:

    chap009_004.jpg

    Ok. Now, i want to show you some transport network info.

    scheme001_009.jpg

    scheme002_009.jpg

    As you can see, Etsaw bus network is very organised. I don't like to see the buses driving everywhere they want, so i've desinged some regular bus routes. For example, here is a part of bus routes in industrial area:

    chap009_001.jpg

    And another transportation idea that i use in Etsaw. A pedestrian subways. This is the way to allow sims to get the busstop at the other side of the wide avenue. I really like it:

    chap009_003.jpg

    It really works:

    chap009_002.jpg

    And in the end, one of Etsaw points of interest. Abandoned construction site of the huge foundry:

    chap009_005.jpg

    chap009_006.jpg

    That's all for today 3.gif

      To Poiuy1208: Oh, thank you 1.gif

      Etsaw Road and Highway Engineering. Brubus Bridge.

      First of all, this update will be small. Only six illustrations. I forgot to include regional pics in the previous update so i'll show it right now.
      Actually, all the progress i have with Eladremme is replanning the northen part of Etsaw, where Toxic Waste Facility is situated (look at this map, T.W.F. marked by green).

      So, at this time i have the main road grid finished. Here is the transportation regional map:

    chap010_001.jpg

      I've also decided to drag a passenger railway branch from Rubbrefo Rlws. Branchline to the other riverside. But i've made a mistake, this branch must be situated more to the east in the proposal suburbs area.
      I think that in the next update i will change this. Any way, here is a regional satellite view of Etsaw:

      chap010_002.jpg

      And this is a Brubus bridge.

    chap010_003.jpg

      Looks like Etsaw R.H. Engineering Team skills grows up higher and higher. And it's good. The goverment is very exacting in the matter of road and highway planning. Look at this:

     chap010_004.jpg

      Huh, one of the retaining walls of the approach is the only place that allowed of the graffity art. Yeah! The goverment keeps an eye on this too! Those graffities looks pretty funny in the area where is no any building yet.

      chap010_005.jpg

    chap010_006.jpg

      So, as i've said, this is small update :} I hope that i'll find some free time for large expanding of the Etsaw to the North, East and South. There must be more industrial areas and some suburbean housing communities.

    Very nice work Marrast
    Your ideas for transportation that you come up with are very original and interesting layouts, to the exception of the straightness of your main highway against the river bank. I can not wait for more developpment to take place in your city.
    I also really like the custom lots that you made, and that are not realeasing to us...20.gif
    Keep up the good work 44.gif

    Wow! 6.gif You won't stop to impress me Marrast! This bridge is a true piece of art! lol. I also like very much all your custom lots you put everywhere. It gives to your city a very unique and nice touch. BTW, do you use BRF tunnels and slopes mod or something similar to make all the gentle slopes for your roads or do you do it the hard way with the terraforming tools? I was also wondering if the textures you use in your custom lots are the default ones from the game or if they need to be downloaded. I've searched all the textures I could in the STEX but couldn't find any, I'm more specificatly searching for the grass texture you use everywhere.

    Astounding work, don't give up! We're all waiting for more! 44.gif
    Did I say your city is really unique and beautiful? The layouts, the way you build your areas, everything, is a lot different from anuthing else I've seen before! That's really inspiring and entertaining.

    ***EDIT: I also forgot to ask you, how much time did it take you to build the bridge? I'm sure you spend more times building a small part of your city than some people take to build an entire city or even region lol! Quality over quantity : that's what I'm always looking for.

    To all: Oh, it's so great to read all these comments on my updates. Thank you friends :}
    As always, i will answer to some comments.

    To Noonatall:

    ...Your ideas for transportation that you come up with are very original and interesting layouts, to the exception of the straightness of your main highway against the river bank...

    Oh yes :} But just imagine the speed that is possible on this high way :} If the city has a general layout, arterial roads must be very very well designed. My ideal for the SC4 Highway is a straight one with minimal count of turns.

    ...I also really like the custom lots that you made, and that are not realeasing to us...

    O-oh, please, don't you think that i'm a miser that won't share some lots with the community? :} Look, i don't think that it's good idea to share the lots that was designed for the very specific situation.. More to come, many of these are not work well and i have no time to work on this further to have a quality that will be enough for the upload. I don't want to share some eyecandy crapy scrap here. But you have the idea, you can make it yourself if you really want.

    To Threeswept:

    ...I've seen anyone accomplish this, yet (since bridges are tricky to make over roadway tunnels...successfully)...

    Oh yes, they are! Bridges is always very intresting stuff for some experimentation :}

    To Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya:

    BTW, do you use BRF tunnels and slopes mod or something similar to make all the gentle slopes for your roads or do you do it the hard way with the terraforming tools?

    Oh yes i do! But i also use terraforming tools to make such thing that can't be possible to do with Big Red Fish tunnels and slope mod :} And i must say tat this is very, i mean very hard and intresting to layout a railway network in relief areas with this mod. For example:

    pictures are no longer aviable;

    I was also wondering if the textures you use in your custom lots are the default ones from the game or if they need to be downloaded. I've searched all the textures I could in the STEX but couldn't find any, I'm more specificatly searching for the grass texture you use everywhere.

    All the textures i use a default SC4 ones. But there is a little trick. Some grass textures has a deal with wealth level, for example a grass texture that fits with the one that you can see on the diagonal or turning road tiles (exept may be a high wealth leveled roads). This texture is aviable in game if the lot has a low wealth, or no wealth at all. So to have in the game a correct texture that i've choosed in LE, i open the reader and change wealth level to zero :}

    ...I also forgot to ask you, how much time did it take you to build the bridge?..

    Actually i've put on this bridge about three hours with all LE work. But i've tried many layout variations and i think this one is the best :} Whatever, i like it a lot :}
    And thank you very much for all these kind words!

    To Poiuy1208:

    ...Is that a huge garbage dump I saw in the region view?...

    Oh yes. Since Etsaw is a Power and Utilization Organ district, it will serve all the region with this regional landfil :}
