Update 1: Riverside

 

Welcome to my CJ! I bought Cities:Skylines this morning and I have to say the game is even better than I expected! It has a great community too and I think it will keep growing. Now, the (kinda) more serious stuff.

 

Welcome to Riverside. A nice village, home to a few thousand people.

 

And a well-known football (soccer for Americans) team.

 

 

Riverside has also got a freight harbour. Quite a big one for such a small town.

 

And there is even a university.

 

Here is a look from one of the main avenues.

 

The tower in the background is a radio and TV tower. It is 177 metres (580 ft.) tall.

 

This is the bus depot. It's not much used yet, even though public transportation is free in the city!

 

Here is an overview of Riverside.

 

Now we move on to something more relaxing, well It's the dam Riverdam got it's name from.

 

You can see the tower and harbour in Riverside in the distance.

This is a really good first entry! Great pictures and nice use of space to, you seem to have resisted the urge to cram everything into the city area.

Riverdam

Update 2: A Few Years Later...

 

A few years have passed, but Riverside didn't change very much.

 

It still has that nice ambiance.

 

But... What's that smell?

 

I think something did change...

 

I don't think those factories used to be here. And especially not that oil plant on the left.

Never mind. It's good for the economy!

 

And the last two pictures are some overview pictures, looking towards the industrial area.

Love the look of the side by side ports, If only there was a mod to fill in the spots between them with some quays. But yep, definitely room to grow

Riverdam

Update 3: Downtown Funk

 

I think this is what you've all been waiting for. I'm finally going to show you the downtown I've been working on since before the second update. (You couldn't see it because the pictures where taken in the different direction) But before I show you the downtown, I have some interchanges and traffic jams for you.

 

There is only one highway from Riverside to the downtown, which causes big traffic problems. And of course my bad intersections skills help

 

I just don't get these two intersections working properly.

 

I'm trying to make trains the most used public transport, but the bus is still on the lead.

 

Here you have a train intersection. I don't know if I'm happy with it, but it works.

 

Let's move on to downtown Riverdam.

I didn't have much time for this update, so I kept it a bit short.

Wow that rail interchange is mad! Aside from that those telecom towers look amazing, it would be cool if you took a picture of both of them close up at the street level.

Update 3: Downtown Funk (Part 2)

 

It continues! It was very late when I uploaded the last update yesterday, so I didn't have very much time, but here's the rest of the update. Replies next time.

 

First, I have a cozy suburb picture.

 

We're finally really going downtown in this update. This is a picture taken from the intersection in the first picture of the last update.

 

It seems that I've also created some traffic problems in the main city itself.

 

At the edge of downtown Riverdam, we can find these funky buildings.

 

 

If you have a drone, helicopter or a skyscraper, you have a lovely view.

 

Intersections also provide nice views.

 

Commercial demand is very high, even though downtown Riverdam is almost entirely commercial zoned.

 

Maybe an IKEA helps?

 

This picture is taken from next to the dam. I'm planning a forest industry there.

 

Here are 3 pictures taken from the top of the tallest building from 3 different sides.

@89James89: I'm glad at least someone likes my railroad interchange. I'm not very happy with it myself, but it's hard to adjust, so I'll keep it this way.

Update 4: Streetview

 

Welcome to the fouth update on the Riverdam topic. All pictures except for the last three are made from street level, which has a nice feeling, like you're really walking there. This update will be a large one, so just sit back, relax and enjoy!

 

Let's start with some relaxing suburb pictures. This one is taken in Riverside.

 

I don't think this man likes the football (yeah it's soccer for you, Americans) field, but at least the kids don't ring his doorbell anymore.

I think the owner of this house likes Italy.

 

There are plenty of parks in the city. If anybody complains, I will kill... I mean talk to him personally!

The industry district, also called 'The Dark District', is still growing. The demand for industial zones is pretty high.

 

At the right of this picture, there is a well-known university. We have left Riverside BTW.

@Mymyjp: Those issues are not solved yet, but at least it doesn't crash anymore. I have removed and deactivated some unuseful mods and it starts up faster now and I can play with less lagg. Also thanks for your comment!

 

@Carnivorus: Thanks! You will need patience for that report. A lot, because it will propably never come. (Traffic is one of the hardest things for me in the game  )

 

Riverdam

Update 5: Holiday

 

Riverdammers also like to have holiday, they're just like normal people, but living in a city made by a bit crazy person

This update, you will get to see some of the new hotels and attractions that have been built at a island not too far from downtown Riverdam.

 

A harbour has been created to let tourists from far away stay at our expensive hotels.

 

Even boats are stuck in traffic in my city...

(Speed 2 meets the Titanic)

 

The view from the roof of the harbour. Sad enough, the roof isn't opened for tourists.

 

These 2 hotels are the only ones on the island, so they are very big.

 

This new tower is built as a tourist attraction and it provides a very nice view over the city at the observation deck.

 

Those palm trees didn't grow there naturally. They are all planted and breeded (is that the right word?) to survive in this western European climate.

 

There has also been created a new amusement park. It has got 2 rollercoasters, a ferris wheel and a merry-go-around. You have to pay for each attraction individually, though.

Riverdam

Update 6: In The Suburbs

 

You think suburbs are boring? Well, you're kinda right, but in this update, we'll pretend they're not!

The district we'll see most of the update is called Miami.

 

This could be the scene for a horror movie. Especially with that kid standing in front of the house.

 

The neighbours have complained about how scary the house above was. Well, that's not my business.

 

This family has nothing to complain about.

 

This one neither.

 

This is the Miami elementary school. I think it's bring-along-your-pet day.

 

The Miami high school is close. I would love to follow lessons on the top floor! I think I would always be distracted by the skyline, though.

 

All those kids have to play a sport. We have all kinds of sport facilities here: football (soccer), baseball, tennis and basketball fields.

 

Public transport is free in my city.

 

"Mother, my eyes are burning!"

"That's just the new Pizza Hut, son."

 

The suburbs have lots of small shops all over the place...

 

 

...And fast food restaurants.

The fifth from last picture showing that new skyscraper in Downtown Riverdam is probably the coolest CS CBD shot I have seen so far- definitely has shades of blue.
