Well...  sort of.  The grid goes about 15 miles in all directions from downtown, and then only major streets (every 1/2 mile) continue on into the suburbs.  Between the major streets, though, subdivision-style curved streets usually dominate in the suburbs.

But there's no doubt that Chicago is a real city.  Who was questioning that fact?

manticorefan: That would be the Coyote Building at North/Damen/Milwaukee.  I think it's one of the coolest buildings in the city, just for being a skyscraper outside of downtown and inland from the lake.  You're not the first person to request a BAT.  I don't even think you're the second.

I was just going through the early pages of this cj, and they are truly stunning. If you come back with a new and improved Chicago, I will DEFINITELY check it out! I'd love to see the NAM and the RHW work their magic, not to mention the improved selection of BATs available! Chicago is easily one of my favorite cities to visit (if only they could do something about their AWFUL sports teams...2.gif)

Afuegosky,

Very nice region, I do not know if I skipped over it but I did not see any close-ups of the area west of the river that branches off to the south (the area around Union Station). I am curious to see how you handled the train tracks there. Keep up the great work!!!

Bump just for fun sake, I know I abandoned my cj for school a while back, but eventually I hope I can bring it back.

Good point about the grid. In the midwest, especially states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin somewhat, the grid extends far beyond main cities, though in cities the grid is usually applies to smaller streets between the 1/2 mile main arterials, too. Those curvy suburbs everyone cites as REAL are usually within a grid...at least in the midwest...things are vastly different in the much older eastern seaboard.

Please, try not to bump 2-year-old CJ threads.
