This past weekend, Notch flew into town to christen his new home away from home with the mother of all housewarming parties.

And judging by the pictures, it was a big hit. Among the attendees were John and Brenda Romero, Tim Schafer, Respawn's Vince Zampella and former Blizzard chief creative officer Rob Pardo. And it wasn't just a party packed with gamers, quite a few celebs showed up as well, including Selena Gomez and DJ Zedd.

Did you get invited to Notch's [Creator of Minecraft] over the top Hollywood style housewarming party?

Probably even before the microsoft money. I'd heard that even when he had ownership of Minecraft, he leaned on his staff to do most of the work on updating and improving MC. Kept bumping up the charge on MC, even when the game was stagnating. Kinda like what Gates does with Windows. I have to admit though, that's a lot of wasted cash on a probably nice party :P

You mean that he no longer has to conform to your expectations of him as a humble small time indie developer who made a good game that one time?

I have to admit, despite his ideals, anyone I his situation would've taken that offer. When you find yorpurself in a situation bigger than yourself and can't handle it, it's probably best for you to just abandon it before it consumes you. Read an article about it, and it's a point fair enough to make. If I made a game half that popular, I'd try as much as possible to refuse, but then again, it's not everyday someone comes up to you and waves 2.5 billion dollars in your face :P

    No!

He spent the last two years on Twitter, socia media, and interviews lambasting developers for selling out for money.

He also stated he'd give the majority of the money to charity, if he sold out.

He lastly stated he would remain humble and not live it up, because those people disgusted him.

    He brought it on himself.

Notch is either a hypocrite or the money changed him.

    --Ocram

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I've seen some pointless threads in my time, but this one here? it's special.

Nobody cares what notch does with his money or how much he claimed to stay humble n stuff.

Guess what? with 2.5 BILLION dollar on your tab, a 85 million dollar home and some expensive luxury cars and a big housewarming party is about as humble as can be. It's acutally peanuts compared to his total account.

plus you don't no jack about what he really did with all the money except that he bought a house and a bunch of cars and threw a party.

    jeez...
