So as the title suggests, do they?

I would like to  deal with some pollution issues I have along some roads and of course the game advice is build parks, but do they viably reduce pollution along stretches of roads or is it just bunk?

Thanks for the tips

If you have the NAM loaded, enable the clean air ordinance which will seriously reduce traffic pollution.  Parks and trees do reduce pollution, the biggest pollution cleaner supplied by Maxis is the graveyard lots.  If you really want to clear pollution there are several choices on the STEX.

If you really want to clear pollution you need my pair of special utilities.  Used together you can forget pollution except for roads:

The power plant needs the water plant for fuel, and it supplies power to an entire large tile while removing all pollution except traffic.  Best placement is in the middle of a tile.

    Hi Nonny

I actually downloaded your water and power plants this morning as I saw you had posted about them on a forum about power. They are really great, nice work. I haven't used them at the moment but I will try and implement them soon in my city to get that pollution away, will immediately replace my water pump though with yours.

Massive thanks as always for your tips and help.

Parks and trees do indeed have a removing effect on pollution.  They are generally not very powerful unless you have a whole ton of them.  You can find some parks on the STEX that have big anti-pollution effects.

You are welcome, Andy.  Be careful with that power plant, you can't move it once it has been placed or it will destroy your city.

I found this air filter that works really well. Beware that the cost per month can be high though ($75 each):

Also there are these anti-pollution trees that have a higher effect than the standard ones. Cost is $25 each, nothing monthly:

Placing about a dozen of the air filters and a generous amount of the anti-pollution tress throughout my city reduced pollution to near 0.

Thanks Bearcatnat, will check those out.

I want to get rid of my pollution in a nice way, without just resorting to the eliminates all pollution for nothing kind of mod. Some realism must be maintained for me.

Thanks again and a very happy new year to you.

Nonny - the Graveyard lots are the best?  I never noticed that.  I'll have to check it out.
